The opportunity cost of not having a death penalty takes away potential funding to preschool and day care. The budget for the allocation of taxpayer revenue is limited. Why not allocate taxpayer money to the most beneficial use? If the money was not used to sustain the lives of malicious killers and was instead used to help develop children with wholesome values and help with learning ability; the crime rate would have a greater chance of declining. The morally and compassionate action of using the death penalty would be advantageous to those who choose to be kind and law abiding. When there is overwhelming evidence of guilt the death penalty is justice for society as a whole. Crime industry revenue is dependent on criminals not law abiding citizens.
