  • There Are Two Types of Personal Change

You can not change the Past. You can not change your DNA,. Your DNA, however, does not determine your emotions or personality. Your intellectual abilities may be somewhat related to genetic factors, but your "effective intelligence" is not precisely correlated with you genetic make up, your sex, race, or ethnic or cultural membership.

You can change who you are, but you can't change who you were.

You can change how you are "acting" in the world. Your actions and interactions with your environment, physical as well as social, are malleable. Change in how one is "acting" tends to be a linear process over time. The degree of and rate of change is related to factors such as self-discipline, environment, awareness, and feedback and education. A change in how one is "acting" is temporary, i.E., a subconscious return to a previous way of "acting" is always possible.

Changing who you "are" is rarely linear. Changing who you "are" is transformational and is obtained through acceptance, choice and declaration. Transformational change is permanent. And one may consciously choose to act in ways that are not in accordance with who you "are".

You can change how you are being in the world. Your actions and interactions with your environment, physical as well as social, are malleable. Change in how one is acting tends to be a linear process over time. The degree of and rate of change is related to factors such as self-discipline, environment, awareness, and feedback and education. • Yes you can change how you act and interact with others. But to change one's beliefs requires a transformation.

It is possible for anyone to change their actions, interactions with others or habits. Change at that level is changing who you are being. To change who you are requires a transformation. Transformation requires awareness of who you are and the choice to be who you are not. It requires a different level of understanding in what it means to be a human being.

  • People CAN change!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One example of someone changing is the story of Saint Paul. Saint Paul used to persecute Christians. Then on day, on the road to Damascus, he saw and heard God and became blind for three days. During these three days without being able to see, he was converted to Christianity. I believe that this is the best example of someone changing. However, it is not the only one.

  • It's possible to change

Looking at what thing can do to you can make you realize it's time to change or even realizing what you've done to people can make you change. Not everything in this world going to stay the same it's all going to change one day,but it's possible to make a difference for you and the people.

  • Who you really are never really changes.

You can believe whatever you want, fact still stands that a person can not change who they really are. Yes a person can change the way they view something, their opinion, the way they look even. But a person never really changes who they really are. Weather you realize that you have done something wrong or right, you still are you, the same person who committed that action.

  • People don't change

Genes play a HUGE role in daily life and influence your happiness by about 50%. People who are less intelligent tend to stay that way because studies show that acedemic ability is about 60% inhereted. Also, personallity and sociability have strong genetic components too. Even when drug addicts quit using drugs, they still have the desire to use them and often relapse.

  • Nah, that's not possible

You are who you are. And that can't be undone. Yeah sure. A thief can be a police officer. A murderer can be a doctor. An enemy can be a friend. But that is just an improvement. You might be better than you were before. But you are still that same person. Just because you weren't as horrible a person as before doesn't mean you've changed. The point is, you can change what you do, or who you're with. But you can't change who you are. Because if you do, you are not that person anymore.

  • People can't change

Humans are both complicated and single, but no natural perspective can be changed, we can desire to change, and its true, we can make changes in our life, but only the ones that affect the outer reality of our lives, same reason how everybody dies, its natural, change is not.

  • Personality is embedded into a particular person.

People don't really change. They can stop smoking and even that can be tough. Their personality cannot be altered. How many times do you hear people say I'm going to change? Eventually they always divert back to their true and inner self. Don't waste your precious time trying to change anyone. What you see is what you get.

  • People cant change

Yes people can make minor changes in theyre ever day life and even major changes. However, these major or minor changes arent something new. People havent actually changed. We have always had the ability to make better choices or to treat women with respect, or treat black people with equality. It is not a change in human nature but instead a mordern change, the result of time passing...A revolution. Its nature over nuture, humans do not have the ability to change becasue human nature fully over powers nuture.

  • No because its already there

I say people always have the potential to do what they think they couldn't. This all comes down to work ethic to bring what they had hidden away to the real life world. What you may consider as change, I consider was already there. People have the choices to do what they think is right.

  • We just understand ourselves more and more everyday

As we encounter new life experiences and situations, we all realize and find something in ourselves that we thought we never had in us. (Example: the mother who lifts a car to save her child underneath it. The drunk who dances on top of the table at the party) In general life situations we believe that our normal personality is who we are, but when we are forced to survive and pushed I our breaking point, we can sometimes tap into an inner strength we didn't know we had before. That intense strength and drive for survival was always inside us, we just didn't realize it was there. So although we see it as growth and change, it is more so a reveal of our fight or flight instincts which were always there inside us. Also when some say that our minds are 'altered' through alcohol or drugs, the mind isn't changed, but simply our normal inhibitions are lowered, and our true personalities are shown. We may not showcase them everyday, but they are there inside us, trapped behind our normal facades and regulating behaviors.

  • Personality Remains Constant

The perceived change that is witnessed is in the choices that people make everyday - the core personality remains the same. An addictive personality remains the same but can make the choice of trading an unhealthy one for a perceived healthy one. A procrastinator will always be one but may choose get everything that needs to be completed by a Tuesday AM on Monday AM but not do anything before Tuesday PM. A cheating spouse may choose not to have a wandering eye (or body) in honor of their spouse but it doesn't change that they need something extra. An outside influence may change how one perceives life and with that others may witness a change in mood from that person. I think people want to recognize positive actions as "great change" but with that one would also have to consider the opposite as well. These actions that we define as positive or negative are not a natural permanent state of our personality.
