Poor nations can be assisted to develop quickly if it is done right. The way to do it is to build an infrastructure for them to create, sell, and ship whatever goods their country has a unique competitve advantage in. This will allow them to make money at a much faster rate which will allow them to spend it making their country better.
We can and should be making strides in helping poorer countries to develop more quickly by putting our money into education and into the economic systems. However, it takes time to make sure those who are on the lowest rungs learn the right skills and can move into responsible positions. We need to be patient and still put money in good places.
