Professional worries can indeed ruin a love life. Not only in contemporary society, but this problem has gone on for centuries. Just look at the fictional character of Ebenezer Scrooge. When he was young, he had a love life. But he put money and a career first. He broke the heart of his beloved and he became a lonely, bitter young man until his twilight years. More than half of all marriages end because of money--surely, some of those revolve around professional worries and putting a job first over love.
When a person is worried about a career because it is not going well, of course this will impact his or her romantic life. That is especially true for a traditional type of man who really feels emasculated if he is not succeeding or if he is unemployed. It would be very hard for a woman to reach him if this is so.
