Can reason really “make” us do anything at all?

  • Yes, reason can make us do anything.

Yes, reason can make us do anything. If something is posed in a way that sounds reasonable enough, with compelling argument and enough data (however skewed it may actually be), people can be expected to accept almost anything. Independent thinking is becoming a thing of the past; people are far too reliant on outside sources to tell them what they should think, believe and agree with.

  • No it cannot.

Reason cannot make us do anything at all. Reason usually makes a not do things. Reason or logic allows us to think about the results of our actions. So, for example, we may wish to murder someone. On most people our reasoning skill come in, and we think of the result of our actions and do not cause harm to someone.
