  • Can it? Yes.

Assuming that people would embrace the idea of communism, and be willing to give up luxuries such as yachts, huge houses, and sportscars; I think that communism would be a viable option. The only problem with it is that people are greedy. Rid ourselves of the greed, and communism is perfect.

  • It is future of human civilization, to be one

Yes it can, and it is the most believable system to be used if humanity have to unite in the future
why humanity have to unite? We will later realize there are so many aspect in this world which we cant pass/do/work on it alone (by our own corporation/country) for example : deep exploring earth, space exploration, or other dream to create something which need giant scale work, by removing the means of cost, like scientist and engineer can experiment easier to improve human tech
true communism is by far the most believable concept of humanity which work so we can be one as human, to keep seeking means of life

  • It Could Happen Within The Next Few Hundred Years Depending Upon Certain Variables That Humanity Will Always Have

I think that true communism could realistically happen in the next few hundred years as long as all factions received equal power. The world is probably not ready for true communism today and will likely not happen for at least fifty years unless it be forced upon the world by a dictator who conquers the world, which would not be true communist, but more of the Stalinist communism of Stalin's Soviet Union.

  • It absolutely can, but with proper implementation

The concept of true communism (not that of the U.S.S.R, Cuba or North Korea as some wrongly believe) is a very simple removal of money and classes and a centralization of industry to be controlled by the workers. No where in the manifesto does it say that modernization, human rights and equality are oppressed. At the base we use "From each according to their ability, to each according to their need" which simply means, you work, the state acknowledge your contribution, so you get what you need. The desire to get what we want after that, such as an iPhone :P, can then be implemented, having centralized companies making iPhones (etc.) as their work, which the government acknowledges as a contribution also because it makes the standard of living advance. In fact in a communist society, industry would work faster as long as you have several co-operating countries and their leaders working together, instead of capitalism which delays the process with trade and profit.
And for the argument of communism going against human nature, human nature is to survive and ensure the survival of our genes through the next generation. Human traits such as greed are learned with capitalism, and can be swapped for co-operation. We simply need to show the people that a communist society, once on it's feet, can well surpass capitalism in efficiency of labor and standard of living. Marx was right that the communist ideal would consume the world, as eventually, people will realize that with proper implementation, it’s more friendly, equal and efficient.

  • The adjoined picture is misleading.

Communism DOES work; the only question is to what scale. It is true that nearly all communist NATIONS, such as East Germany whose emblem is above, have collapsed, and that many attempts at establishing others have failed miserably. However there are many small communes who utilize communistic economic systems. And I challenge anyone to find a family where children pay for food and lodging!

  • Possibly it can

Communism, not Leninism or Stalinism may be a possibility to work. The problem is that everybody thinks that self-acclaimed communism is really communism. If you read the Manifesto of the Communism by Karl Marx, you'll realize so simply that fact that Soviet Union, Cuba and other so-called communist nations ARE NOT communist. Like all economic systems, there is more than simply 'communism' just as there is more than simply 'capitalism' or 'socialism'. There's types of these economic systems such as laissez faire, social democrat and Luxemburgism. I believe there is a possibly with following the communist manifesto there is a possibility that it could work. No country has truly tried true communism in the sense of as Karl Marx envisioned it. Free markets and free trade as well as private property existed is alleged communist country as well as inequalities of opportunity and pay. Marx said that communism doesn't happen overnight, it'll be a slow path when it happens; a transition when capitalism inevitability collapses and then socialism takes over and slowly turns into communism so there is a dictatorship of the proletarians, not a dictator controlling the proletarians. However sooner or later true communism will inevitably fall apart just all communism, socialism and capitalism will because of their inherit flaws.

  • Utopias Will Never Happen

Everyone, especially us Americans, believe that Communism fails not because of its values, but because it will never happen.

There is partial truth in this. True Communism will never happen.

But the reason that it won't work EVEN if it comes into being in the future is that a perfect Utopia is impossible. Utopia has never existed and never will exist. Just take a look at books like Fahrenheit 451 or Brave New World. Or maybe even Divergent.

They are books about "Utopias". The literary figures attempt to perfect the society by making everyone equal. What happens is that either one faction gets too much control, or people become unhappy. There will always be unhappy people, which means there will never be a flawless Utopian society.

I am not saying that Communists have a bad intent. They have good intentions. But Communism, true or false, will simply never work.

  • 🅱️ommunism Will Never Work

On BD that shit will never work. Maybe it's ideals can work in a perfect world but that fact is human nature will never reach that utopian state. Its human nature to 'want.' That goes against communist beliefs.

Say if true Communism were to be achieved. What happens when one group factions and gains power. Then the utopian state collapses. If there is no government to control this group, then what happens? People will always be unhappy. There will NEVER be a unified society where there are no complaints. The only way to keep people in line is with a figure like Stalin/Lenin. And at that point, it's not true Communism. And if you strive to achieve Stalinism or Leninism then you're off a xan. Facts hoe.

  • China, North Korea, Cuba, Soviet Union, Vietnam

One of the dumbest arguments I have ever heard supporting communism went something like this:
(In smug liberal tone) "Well *true* communism has never been in place before."
You technically are right, but for the wrong reasons. Though the countries of China, North Korea, Cuba, and Vietnam label themselves as communists (people's republic is the same thing), they are in fact authoritarian socialists. True communism has never existed, I guess, but that's only because these socialist states were/are moving towards full-fledged communism. However, it is extremely unlikely that any of these states will ever actually reach communism since that would mean that the state would become irrelevant and remove itself from power. Yeah, like Kim Jong Un is going to go work in a rice field. The authoritarian socialism that we have seen so far in this world has been filled with genocide, poverty, starvation, violence, and the suppression of basic human rights. In these states, the people serve to support the state, which is comprised of a one party system. If socialism is this awful, think of how awful communism would be...

  • If Only Human Nature Didn't Exist

The basis for communism to work is that everyone wants it, everyone agrees, nobody tries to advance themselves, and nobody forms a government. The factor the matter is, this can only work in small communes or other tiny groups. On a larger stage, trying to get such a consensus is impossible. Because of human nature, some will try to advance their position, and this breaks the system.

  • True Communism Will Never Work

True Communism will never work and here's why.
Here are some aspects of TRUE COMMUNISM that Marx and Engels wrote in the Communist Manifesto:
    • Anarchy (No state)
    • Economic and Social Equality
    • No currency
    • No religion
    • No incentive to work, as everyone receives the same amount of money
    • People still work, even though there is no incentive
    • Lack of trade
    • Since everything is free, as there is no currency, everything your fellow comrade makes will be given to you and you are expected to give to your comrades what they need
    • Lack of private property

Now analyzing all the ideas we can see that they can exist, BUT ONLY INDEPENDENTLY.
For one if there's is no state, who is enforcing these ideals.
If there's no state, who's gonna stop me from starting my own business, no one really.
Also how will the currency be abolished along with religion if there is no state to enforce the abolishing of such ideas.
This shows a country can not operate on socialist economic principles, such as true communism, while also being anarchic in nature.
Since an anarchic society can not operate under socialist economic principles, this means for the economic ideas established earlier a state must exist.
A big problem a state operating under socialist economic principles in order to establish a communist utopia would face though, would include getting people to work.
Capitalism is by no means perfect, but it recognizes the fact people won't work if there is no incentive to work, this is why you get paid for the work you do.
Under true communism, many would simply not work.
Of course Marx couldn't see this as he believed that everyone would work without incentive out of a care for one's fellow comrade, however in the real world we will not work for the benefit of the entire society.
The only way true communism could work, at least economically, is if everyone worked.
How would everyone work though if there is no financial or economic incentive to work?
If they rewarded hard workers more to incentivize them to work, then that wouldn't be communist as it contradicts the idea of economic equality.
This leads most communist states into one of two options, either one, don't incentivize your workers to work, or two incentivize them through means that are not economic, financial, or materialistic.
If a state does not incentivize their workers to work, their will be a lack of production, therefore a lack of community wealth for the communist to use to run their utopia.
We can see examples like this in Kenya and Venezuela, countries whose economies are in shambles because the workers have no reason to work, therefore there is no production, therefore no wealth.
If a state does incentivize through means that are not economic, financial, or materialistic, they will often incentivize workers through force. We can see this in Cuba, Maoist China, Stalinist Russia, North Korea, and
    Cont.

  • The statement that it can is bollocks.

Trade with other, non-commie countries isn't allowed under commie ideals, thus if the country weren't self sufficient (Which no country is in my opinion) it would just simply not be possible. There is such a thing as the world economy, you know. Grow up and realise we can't have happy shiny fun land where everyone is equal.

  • People are selfish

True communism would depend on everyone being in it for the common good. Let's be honest, not everyone cares whether his neighbor lives or dies or is comfortable or impoverished. People in general are driven by self interest. You can't force someone to care about the community as a whole. Take away an individual's chance to set himself above the rest of the pack and you take away his drive to work hard and push the limits of achievement.

  • A Mythical Creature

The debate is over; capitalism has proven itself to be a revolutionary force in human history and the dividends to humanity are here for all of us to enjoy. Communism has proven to be a crackpot economic theory and no matter how many millions of people lost their lives at the hands of such regimes or due to famines, it won't stop this religious belief in a failed ideology. Even small attempts like Owen's New Harmony demonstrate it. After all, how many leftist affirmed true communism and it's miracle in Stalinist Russia :D
