You can change your habits and work towards quitting them or end up transferring it. I had a bad habit of drinking too many energy drinks through out the day so I started trying soda instead, now I do not touch the energy drinks but I have a bad habit of soda drinking.
Although some people are capable of change, in general most people cannot change their habits. It is very difficult to break a bad habit that you have been doing for a long time. Even when people try to change, vices are very difficult to get rid of. Most people do not change during their lives.
