Child Curfews: Should young people be subjected to night-time curfews as a way to reduce crime?

  • Yes they should be. ..

No one knows what will happened outside of our home, and you cannot dictate what lies ahead, so "its better to prepare and prevent than to repair and repent" - Pres. E.T.B. If they need freedom, the real freedom is this. This thing is good and only the safety is concerned.

  • Yes. i believe young people should be subjected to night-time curfews as a way to reduce crime.

Yes. I believe young people should be subjected to night-time curfews as a way to reduce crime, because I would be a fail proof system. It would be impossible for child to get into any trouble from the safety of your home. This A great idea and it should b instated.

  • Young people should be subjected to night-time curfews as a way to reduce crime.

Young people should be subjected to night-time curfews as a way to reduce crime. Curfews would get a lot of the children off the street at night where they should not be anyways. Parents need to be more responsible when it comes to their children and their activities before it is too late and someone gets hurt.

  • Yes they should.

Young people should be subjected to night time curfews as a way to reduce crime. While it is not likely that young people will commit terrible crime, they will probably end up doing stupid stuff like vandalism. It will be much better for everyone if they are subjected to a curfew.

  • Yes they should.

I think child curfews are perfectly reasonable, it keeps the younger generation home and safe in bed rather than wondering around the streets at night being a potential hit for crime. Our kids are better off being inside once it is dark out because then they are safe and we know if they are okay or not.

  • They absolutely should be!!

Yes we should have curfews imposed on children and teenagers for several reasons.

Firstly it would help to reduce crimes such as vandalism, assault, robbery and the like being committed by young people.

Secondly it would also contribute to keeping the child or teenager safe from predators like paedophiles, rapists, murderers and other such degenerate types and while it won't stop those things entirely it will reduces the chances of a child or teenager being a victim of such crimes.

I think a curfew should be imposed within reason.

  • Yes to curfews

Yes, I definitely think that cities should make curfews at night for young people as a way to reduce crimes late at night. As the saying goes, nothing good happens on the streets after midnight. Kids should be in bed or at least in their houses at that time of the night.

  • YES to child curfews

Young peoples are like our treasure. We must protect them from any danger or any other kinds of bad effects out there so that they will become a clean and good quality leaders one day. Let's say if we let them go out during the night, we do not know with who they are hanging with and we don't know if the guy/girl is good or bad. If we want something to be good and perfect in the future, well guard and guide it to the right path starting from this moment.

  • Yes they should be..

Yes I agree Because young people are still teens and kids and they need to keep children off the street at night some teens don’t go on the right way of rules so the police need to do is to put a main curfew only for young people. Teens may not like the idea of the curfew in the beginning and they may fight about it with their parents then they will finally understand why they had a curfew and some teens get too much troubles if they had too much freedom curfew helps their parents to keep eye on them.
Some young people like kids and teens do stupid crimes like vandalism at streets and some
Places and other crimes it will be much better for everyone is there a curfew and like kids it keeps them safe at home in bed the kids are better being at home safe it’s dark outside and they are safe here at home and we won’t wonder any more at them at night.

  • No, that is stereotyping.

No, young people should not be subjected to night-time curfews as a way to reduce crime, because it is unfair to punish the good kids for the actions of the bad. It is unfair that one child could not go to a Saturday night homecoming dance because another child wants to commit crime on a Saturday night.

  • No to Curfews

Young people should not be placed on a curfew. Curtailing crime is a matter that is difficult to figure out even for those who are versed in the studying of torts and other wrongdoings. However, the weekdays should have a curfew because of having to get to school on time.

  • Who is Next?

African Americans are greatly represented in the US prison system, Fairly or unfairly is another argument. For the sake of this argument you could point to this statistic and say well why not have a curfew on African Americans, hey why not Hispanics while we are at it, and you know I saw a movie about triads, so we better subject them to curfew as well. Curfew is violation of the Right of Movement, it's an attack on personal liberties and I personally do not believe there is a situation where Curfew is morally acceptable. Furthermore what's a young person? Someone under 18? Someone who has no right to vote, who really has no voice in this system. Youth are an easy target, they have less options available to them to prevent their rights being trampled.

We could drastically lower the crime right, by preventing anyone from every leaving their houses... But we all know that is wrong... So is curfew.

  • Crime happening at any time

Teenager shouldn't have curfew because crime happen at any place or anytime . Crimes happen in school , home and outside . Young adults also cause crimes . There are some good kids out there and they shouldn't have curfew because other kids want to go out and do bad things .

  • Yes its similar to communisim

Back in world war 2, Hitler submitted curfews like this on jews so why would you do that to free american citizens. Also not all teens are trouble; some run outside at night, some hang out on friday nights late. Not all teens are doing drugs. Im a teen myself and friday parties i leave around 1, im not doing drugs im just hanging out late.

  • No to curfew

Because it is stereotyping because not all kids do what u think they do when they are outside late. Just because they are young and sneaky doesn't mean they are up to no good because they could be cleaning some ones yard or helping an elderly with their problems. So no kids shouldn't be subjected to curfew at all.

  • We Need Better Parents

I believe the best way to combat and reduce crime among young people is to develop better parents. I do not believe curfews will make a difference, if the parents are not in agreement on it. A good parent helps their child and tries to teach them right from wrong.
