Government officials shouldn't be allowed to hide behind the fifth, they need to be held accountable for their actions. Yes, Hilary may be trying to be transparent even if her IT specialist invokes the 5th. She is not her IT specialist. She has no control over what he does or did. The fact that he invoked the 5th is not the same as Hilary did as well. The 5th amendment is for self-incrimination not incrimination of others.
Hillary Clinton set up a private email server to use while serving as secretary of state to avoid transparency. Clinton's dismissal of the scandal, as well as her stonewalling of the investigation is further proof that she is not trying to be transparent. Furthermore, she could have just handed over the server to the state department when they first requested copies of all of her emails. Instead, she deleted thousands of messages before handing over printed copies of the remaining messages. In short, Clinton is not trying to be transparent.
Hillary Clinton is not trying to be transparent in order to protect her image and nomination for the Democratic presidential candidate. Her being transparent would probably reveal things that happened during her time as Secretary of State that would make her lose the nomination or the election as it would cause undecided voters to feel unfavorably toward her.
