Vaccinations are relatively cheap and can be done in one doctor's appointment. Compulsory vaccinations make drug companies even more money so in that respect it does help our consumer-based economy. The health care industry will get a boost from more vaccinations as parents spend more money on shots for their kids.
It is much less expensive to vaccinate an entire population to prevent disease than it is to suffer the loss of life and labor that comes from an epidemic. Vaccinating a population on a compulsory basis also protects the elderly and the very young (vulnerable populations who may not be able to be vaccinated because of compromised immune systems), which benefits society as a whole.
