Curiosity just found the first evidence of ancient mud cracks on Mars. Is this proof that there was water on Mars long ago?

  • Water on mars

If they can prove it then it is possible for it to have happened if didn´t live here they we can prove that its a myth or a possible lie to begin with can we if science uses technology to prove it then that is a good ali for earth

  • Evidence of ancient mud cracks on Mars is not proof that there was water on Mars long ago

Evidence of ancient mud cracks on Mars is not definitive proof that there was water on Mars long ago, but it is certainly very strong evidence that water once was on Mars. Many planets have liquids on their surfaces that are not water. So, while liquid something was likely on Mars, it is possible that it was something other than water.

  • Yes, I think so.

The researchers think the mud layer took shape more than 3 billion years ago, after Mars's once bountiful ancient lakes dried up. Curiosity's analysis of Old Soaker reveals that the site contains signs of both kinds of crack sediment, which means we could be looking at a historical cycle of lake activity – as Mars's bodies of waters ebbed and flowed over billions of years

  • Yes, there was once water on Mars.

Mars likely had water at one time. The recent discovery of ancient mud cracks on Mars reinforces this belief. It is not that far fetched to consider that Mars probably had water; and may have even had life at one time. There will be more discoveries related to water on Mars in the future.

  • It could have been moisture.

Mud cracks don't necessarily mean that there was water on Mars. First, it doesn't make sense that there wouldn't be some water left there today. There are other things that could explain the cracks, like a change in moisture or an asteroid that brings the storms and debris with it to create the cracks.
