David Martinez didn't know he was undocumented: Are parents to blame for bringing their children here illegally?

  • Parents are Respinsible

Whilst a child is under the age of 18, they are fully responsible for where they take their children. The parents should have a duty to set a good example and follow the laws and guidelines which are set, especially when it comes to the uprooting and moving of their children.

  • Yes, I think it is the duty of the parents to take care of their children.

As in this case for example, David Martinez is a victim. It is because of his parents that brought him illegally here and now when he's trying to proceed and indulge with the world around him, he is unable to do for he is undocumented and as such, many services and facilities are not provided to him rather he faces a constant problem from the authorities and such for this very reason. If only his parents hadn't brought him illegally, or at the very least, gotten his documents made, he wouldn't have been facing what he is facing now.

  • It is the parents' responsibility to document their children when the immigrate.

The parents who are immigrating to the US with their children have the responsibility to legally document their children. Most children will just go along with their families when they immigrate because they are either too young to make decisions for themselves or have no other choice. It is always the parents' responsibility to take care of their children and legally document them when they immigtrate to the US.

  • Parents are to blame for illegal child.

If a child is undocumented, then it is the parents fault that the child is living in a place illegally. A child can not be expected to handle such matters as becoming a legal citizen. Until they are of age, a child is also the legal responsibility of a parent, therefore the child cannot be blamed for any illegal activity.
