"Marijuana is a drug that impairs judgment and creates a lack of desire to accomplish anything. The United States continues to grow into a welfare state and the marijuana epidemic only makes it worse. This is a drug that most people smoke and then sit around and refuse to get a job." Oh I'm sorry - do people want to get a job and accomplish their goals while their drunk or even tipsy off alcohol? Hmmm didn't think so. But that's all fine and legal.
Marijuana should be decriminalized and not even made into a civil offense. Marijuana should be viewed the same as alcohol. Marijuana is a non violent drug that the state can make a lot of tax money off of. Most people in jail are for petty crimes and having possession of marijuana. it would free up a lot of prison space for real criminals and save tax payers money.
Yes, I believe that marijuana should be made into a civil offense or no offense at all for that matter. The legal system is bombarded by large amounts of cases that involve small amounts of marijuana. I believe it is a waste of law enforcement time and tax payers money to run behind those that have been caught with menial amounts of marijuana.
I think marijuana should be downgraded to a civil offense or even legalized. There are many benefits, medically for marijuana use and is a good stress reliever for some. Selling or distributing to make profit or giving it to kids should still be a felony as they are abusing the system.
Marijuana is becoming more accepted in society. It is not a dangerous drug like heroin or cocaine and it should not be in the same category as them. The government should recognize that marijuana can be a safe part of society. In the future, marijuana will be as accepted as alcohol and tobacco.
The possession of pot should be decriminalized and made into a civil offense instead of a criminal offense. Pot is well on its way to being completely legal here in the United States and should be decriminalized. There is no reason to waste jail space on people who a caught with pot.
Some states have already legalized the use of marijuana and 20 states plus the District of Columbia have legal use of medical marijuana, plus legislation pending in New York, Ohio, Minnesota and Pennsylvania. I think eventually it will become legal throughout the country. In the meantime, criminalizing the possession of marijuana in some states while it is legal in others, does not seem fair. I believe it would be better served to be charged as a civil offense and decriminalized.
