Deliberative democracy: Does deliberative democracy improve governance?

    Deliberative democracy is one key way to improve the government process. The more opposing constituencies can express their viewpoints, the more people can hear both sides of the argument. Will both sides presenting their positions, hopefully the better of the two solutions becomes evident, so deliberation helps create good policy.

    Yes, deliberative democracy improves governance, because those voting have to explain to their constituency their reasons for voting in a particular way on a matter. Deliberating allows those voting, as well as the general public to engage in a discussion about the decisions that are being made. Thinking through decisions allows for more thoughtful direction, in most cases.
