The United States has always disproportionately jailed people of color, and this is particularly the case with drug laws. The people on Wall Street are the same ones who were doing coke and getting lesser sentences than those doing crack. Rob a bank, get 20 years. Steal from the bank you work for, get probation.
The only way to successfully manage the U.S. Justice system is with the best lawyers. Unfortunately, those cost a lot of money. The cheapest I've ever seen is $500 per hour. If your income is at the 20K mark, that kind of price tag means you will be losing your lawsuit or freedom. Judges are purchased, lawyers are purchased. Money is justice and if you can't see that, then you have enough money to win at the Justice system.
Yes the American Justice system is broken! To see that the American system is broken all you have to do is look at WHO is in the prison system. We are incarnating people of color who don't have the resources to contest illegal law enforcement actions against them. The majority of death penalty cases have defendants who are minorities, in spite of the fact the majority of murders are committed by whites.
We have traffic traps that racial profile based on the type of car being driven. There were stop and frisk laws in several states that targeted African American males. There were also certain mandatory prison sentences for crimes seen as primarily being committed by African American males, such as, car jacking, crack possession etc. There were smaller sentences for whites for cocaine offenses. America took a wrong turn with these racist policies that not only violate constitutional rights, but also destroy lives and families.
Show me the amount of people that are in jail that didn't commit a crime. If you commit a crime you go to jail, regardless of color. Having more blacks in jail, isn't because they're black, it's because they're criminals. The things people can be jailed for is a different story. Crazy how you can be jailed for marijuana in one state and smoke it freely in another.
Come on now, it doesn't take a genius to say that the American Justice System is corrupt as practically how much money you have decides if you are innocent or guilty but do we need to involve race into it? Not everything that happens is an injustice to all black people. I can see that Bernie Sanders is obviously pandering to the African American demography for some extra votes.
