  • Lions Schedule and Division

The Lions have one of if not the worst divisions in the National Football League. The Chicago Bears, the Minnesota Vikings, with the addition of the suddenly good Green Bay Packers. Also, they don't have a strong schedule at all. Their wins all come from teams such as the Jaguars, Rams, Eagles and Vikings. They haven't shown they can beat any high powered offenses such as Dallas and New York yet.

  • No, they can't make it to the Super Bowl

First of all their record Isn’t that good. No team in the last 13 years has made the Super Bowl after posting fewer than six wins through its first nine games. Second, their defense is bad. Third, their quarterback, Matthew Stafford, has yet to win a playoff game. And finally, their coach, Jim Caldwell, is a liability.

  • The Lions are unlikely to make the Super Bowl

The Lions have a number of different paths that will get them to the Super Bowl. Nevertheless, they do not control their own destiny for many of those paths. Most of their paths to the Super Bowl have them getting there with a win in wildcard game. And then they have to win the NFC to get to the Super Bowl. Considering their arduous route to the Super Bowl, if they do get there, they deserve to win.

  • The Lions are out of the Super Bowl race.

That loss disqualified them from even having a chance as a wild card and the NFC Championship game between Carolina and the Cardimals is all that is left to determine the NFC Champion. In all likelihood, the Panthers will be going to the Super Bowl to play against either New England or Denver, a game that could go either way, but the Patriots should be able to squeak by Denver if Brady performs up to his ability, despite Denver having home-field advantage; otherwise, the Broncos take the AFC trophy.

  • Too many holes in the team

The Lions are just not a good enough complete team to make a serious push into the playoffs. With a very limited running game and a streaky defense, the Lions are probably a year or two away from being able to seriously push teams like Atlanta, Dallas or Green Bay.
