Did President Barack Obama deserve to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize?

  • President Barack Obama did deserve to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for being forward-thinking at a time when it is easy for most to be conservative and even stagnant.

I feel that President Barack Obama deserved the Nobel Peace Prize for his ability to inspire hope and to transcend and dissolve political boundaries that not only repressed progress, but created threatening situations.

  • Eliminating the bad guys

His methods might be disputed but so far he had lowered the tension between the middle east and the US and his drone strikes are far more effective than a military raid or an air strike. As for human rights he does not violate them and this news about edward snowden...There's more to it..We just don''t know about that

  • Obama did not deserve the Nobel

He brings disgrace to the Nobel Prize, nothing close to previous winners accomlishments, If promises, without results, make someone, Nobel worthy, hand it out like candy, the same political machine, that got him elected, found a way to railroad this through for him. He should be standing on stage, next to previous awardees, like Mother Teresa, and other deserving people, what a denegrade to the history of this prestigious award.

  • No! He didn't deserve it!

He didn't do anything to deserve it, he talked about all these wonderful things he was going to change along with the public and he got the prize after being in office a couple of weeks. It was premature! And to be honest I think it must have been an embarrassment to him.....

  • He talked about all these wonderful things that he was going to try and change, but never really did any of the them.

The thing is he didn't really achieve much. He managed to fulfill some of his goals for the USA's future but their healthcare system is still very bad for the people who live in poverty......I think it was a bit premature, and it put Obama himself in a very awkward situation because of the extra pressure it put on him.

  • He support war in the world!

Obama was supporting terrorism in syria and now he want to destroy he's own creating! (He have a plan!!!) Isis its his creche.
    He suporting war in Ukraine...
He destroyed last bridge with Moscow...
America and Russia back to cold war because of him.
Israel cant protect his own citizens because of his political pressure...
Soo... I think it was just PR...
Obama it's last person in the world that deserved it.

  • He didn't do anything

There was no reason for it. At the time, he hadn't done anything to deserve it. He was supposedly a symbol for change, but that symbol never amounted to anything. What a waste. Or, maybe it wasn't a waste. Maybe it just demonstrates how worthless and political awards like these have become.

  • The sheer fact that he accepted it without deserving it says something

One of the reasons he got this award was because he supposedly brought the world together, but he didn't even do that. If he had turned it down, saying, to wait for what he does after office, it would show that he was sure of what he was doing. But he accepted it as soon as possible because he knew that after his failed attempts in office, he would never be considered for such an award.

  • Hindsight is always perfect.

Hopefully, the committee that hands out the Nobel prizes has learned its lesson. Never give someone an award for something that they haven't done. Obama's continued use of drone strikes in the Middle East still murder hundreds of innocent civilians and can be called almost anything other than peaceful. He is truly undeserving of that prize.

  • President Obama hasn't Done Anything Yet

He doesn't deserve the Nobel Peace Prize because he has not accomplished anything yet, plain and simple. It was not the right timing. Bono and Angelina Jolie have done more work than President Obama. There are so many other people deserving of the Nobel Peace Prize. I am not against President Obama, in fact I voted for him, but I am not sure what criteria he met to have received the Prize.

  • He has done nothing to promote peace

Internally, Obama has increased government espionage on American citizens. Overseas, Obama has kept Guantanamo Bay open, used drones attacks to a larger extent than Bush, armed terrorists, and supported the spread of religious Islamic fanatics all over the Middle East. Today the administration just announced that the US will be arming Syria. So now we are sending weapons to Islamic extremists to overthrow a regime that is keeping the extremists in check. How is that worthy of the Noble Peace Prize?
