People try to infer things all the time, but that does not mean that the founding fathers wanted to have government and religion together, One of the founding fathers did say that there should be a wall of separation between church and state.

Many founding fathers were hard core preachers of their respected religion but understood the need of separation of church and state, a necessary means to keep religion and government in balance.
