Tina Fey, Kristen Wiig, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, all these women are paving the way for women in comedy. Comedy is so hard for a woman to make it in, and Tina made terrific strides with this comedy. 30 Rock is one of the most loved sitcoms of the 21st century and the one of the only where the main character is female, along with Parks and Recreation with Poehler.
Tina Fey and 30 Rock have changed things or women in television by making acceptable that a goofy, self deprecating woman can be attractive, likeable and worthy of attention. Tina Fey is such a refreshing change from the usual women on television. She's a personality. She's not afraid to laugh at herself and just laugh, period. There isn't enough of that and women anywhere these days.
Tina Fey has opened up the door in modern television for women to be goofy and funny and popular again. Her writing is cheeky, hilarious, and she can be very clever. Following in her footsteps are shows like Parks and Recreation with Amy Poehler, which is another great show spearheaded by a talented woman.
I love 30 Rock but the show did not change anything for women. There have been shows in that past that women starred in and contributed a lot of writing. 30 Rock just makes people know that women can still create a great and successful show on a major network.
Tina Fey is not the first woman to be on television before. She isn't even the first funny woman to be on television. Carol Burnette and Murphy Brown were two women pioneers in the television industry, and they came along way before Sarah Palin was a sparkle in Tina Fey's eye.
