Do different religions contradict each other?

Asked by: ladiesman
  • Religions portrait gods differently in the elementary level.

Comparing Eastern and Western religions, we often see that Western religions like Christianity promote single god / absolute power of the church, while the Eastern religions like Buddhism suggest that there are hundreds and thousands of god.

Non-believers of Christ would end up in hell, while non-believers of Buddhism is guarantee a good life in their next lives.

Christianity / Muslim believes is often seen as great powers, while Buddhism generally do not promote such power over people.

  • Some religions are of peace, others of war and hatred

    Hello,
There are some religions in the world that preach of peace and kindness, such as Christianity, Hinduism, and Buddhism. Unfortunately, one of the largest religions teach to kill other people who don't believe what they believe. That religion is Islam, and the people who worship it are (and I quote many USA political leaders, not the cowardly monkey Obama) "RADICAL ISAMIC TERRORISTS". 99% of all terror attacks are committed by mooslims. Simply the presence of mooslims are enough to increase the probability that a bombing will occur. We need to evict all Muslims, we do not know when they will turn to their state of radicalism. I have heard many people say "not every mooslim is radical", that is partially true. That is like saying, not every lion will kill you. Sure, that is true, but every lion has the potential to kill you, if they get aggravated, just like mooslims. Instead of evicting them, we could just commit a mass genocide against the threat to the united states. Many americans do not feel safe because of these mooslims, we must destroy them as fast as possible.

  • Opposing beliefs cannot both be true.

Perhaps those responding in the negative have a differing definition of contradiction than I use, It is an inescapable axiom that opposite things cannot both be true, Either one is true and the other is false, or both are false. As religions often pose opposing beliefs, they do in fact contradict each other, as I understand the use the term.

  • Not in the long run

The world's religions are different paths up the same mountain. Their creeds differ, but deep down all religions have the same purpose: to connect humanity with an absolute being or reality, whether it's God in monotheistic religions, Brahman in Hinduism, nirvana in Buddhism or the Tao in Taoism. World religions also share a common morality: a morality of charity, selflessness, self-sacrifice and mercy.

When it comes to truth claims, the major religions of the world seem to be exclusivist, but in regards to religious experience, they appear to be pluralistic.
