Female Professional athletes are some of the most beautfiul women in the world. They work as hard as possible to get into the shape that they are. I think them showing off their bodies in sports magazines is perfectly fine. Any woman who believes that they can do this is perfectly fine, because all women are amazing.
Female athletes posing is not demeaning to their peers. This is because each woman owns her own body. It is in a compliment to their peers because it strikes down the image of masculinity in female athletes. These ladies are known for being tough and nude or semi-nude photos show vulneraibility.
Female professional athletes should be able to show off their beauty, within reason. I am not for Play Boy, or nude picutres, but in a bathing suit, and being discreet is okay by me. We should try to promote health within reason, without flaunting. They deserve to be complimented for the hard work they have done.
The fact that an attractive female professional athlete chooses to pose in a suggestive photo shots is not demeaning, nor does it take anything away from her accomplishments in her respective sport. It just shows that to be a talented female athlete a woman does not have to be a muscle bound, hormone infused freak!
Personally, I feel that an athlete can do whatever he/she wants with his/her body. Often times with male athletes, we will see pictures of them without their shirts, posing in underwear, or showing off their body. No one really says anything negative about these male athletes. If women want to show off their body, that's fine. But they have to understand that they might be sending a mixed message. It is important that female athletes understand that many young girls look up to them as role models. If these young girls only ever see these sexual posters or photo shoots, then these athletes might be sending an unintended message. However, if you're an athlete, it's okay to be proud of your body. You've worked hard so be proud.
