  • Each hockey game makes a lot of money

Each hockey game makes a lot of money. From advertisements to endorsements and plenty of other stuff. So since each hockey game makes a substantial amount of money, it is enough to give everyone or almost everyone a bit of a raise. Know I know that it doesn't really work that way but it could work. Compared to other higher paid sports that are pretty wimpy we could say (**cough cough**basketball) hockey players are athletically superior( like the other guy/girl said) and sacrifice a lot more. And a single injury could ruin their careers.

  • Fuck Off Ok?

You fucking idiots stop looking at their pay check and work on yours while your busy nagging on professional athletes their busy making more money than you whether you like it or not so get off your lazy sorry asses and get to fucking work or else your gonna be broke

  • Hockey is hard.

Hockey is one of the hardest sports out there, the players have to do what every sport out there does, but on skates. Which makes it even harder to do all those things, and the players also move a lot faster so the risk of injury increases. So the players have to work extra hard to do good!

  • Athletically Superior People

Compared to sports like baseball, football, basketball, hockey players are vastly athletically superior. From constant skating on the ice, the obvious requirement of being able to balance on skates, hand eye coordination, and the pain these guys go through the are dramatically underpaid. Basketball players jog back and fourth and shot a ball and get paid 25 million a year while some star hockey players barley get one million. The fact is, not many people like hockey (for some reason) and they simply don't generate enough profit to be able to pay the players the way the nba or nfl can. So i guess my argument is moot

  • Risk of Injury

They risk injury every time they step on the ice. One severe injury could put them out of hockey for life, and more and more studies are showing these injuries, particularly head injuries, put them at risk of later health problems, even a shorter life span or the risk of death.

  • They make too much money

When you look at hockey players and how some become millionaires for just playing hockey (a sport) and just entertaining the viewers while theres doctors out there saving lifes and they make way less. So with that think why do you think its right that they make more money for playing a SPORT.

  • Let The Market Decide

Players in the NHL do not "deserve" to make more money than they already do. NHL players' salaries are determined by the demand for their services, and the price for those services are a factor of the value to the club owners of those services. They don't, per se, deserve any more money.

  • No, they don't need more money.

They don't need more money. They work hard, but some do it for the money. They should just do it for the fun of it, or should at least get more games and stuff like that. They need to work as hard as possible, or they shouldn't get more money.

  • What do They Need More Money for?

If an NHL player needs more money, it is because he doesn't know how to manage his money properly. Why is it that celebrities always feel the need to cry about not getting paid enough when they make more in one year than most would see in a lifetime. Instead of crying about their pay, they should appreciate what they have and show thanks to the people who watch them play because without the fans, they would not have the life that they do.

  • No, they make enough.

They make enough to do what they do. I don't see any NHL players struggling to pay their bills, and athletes should not assume that they will be able to retire and not do anything else once they are done playing. They may need to get another job once they cannot play any more. They are compensated nicely for the work they presumably enjoy and dreamed of doing.

  • Enough is enough

Seriously, we need to start considering how much money is being paid out to athletes. In a time of financial crisis so many find themselves poor, caused by over spending and too much debt. Wouldn't it be better to be able to enjoy a game without spending so much money? If the cost to the players is less then perhaps the wealthy owners of teams would not need to make so much profit and the cost of a hot dog and beer would only cost a couple of dollars instead of ten.
