  • It will probably help

As a student, i have seen many gangs form at my school, and has some people have already commented, gangs start to think twice about joining a gang or continuing a gang. However, I have also seen that they may just continue with the gang, finding secret ways to identify themselves.

  • It Really Does

Students feel more safe when they are wearing uniformsUniforms help stop gangs from forming on campus because students are wearing a badge. That badge shows you are representing the school so it makes bullies and gangs think twice before committing such an act. If there are people who do not go to that school, and they form a gang on campus, it will stop gangs because they can be easily recognized.

  • Right, uniform dont matter just helps them blend in... If they really wanna show color they can wear red or blue socks, shoes or undershirts....

Gangs wont care about the uniform, its just a uniform... They will find another way to show there colors and they will still do gang things at school...Gangs can always wear red or blue socks or undershirts... They always find a way to show there a gang and there not playin...

  • Uniforms do nothing for gang violence.

All uniforms do is stop students from labeling themselves as a gang member by wearing gang related colors, but it will not stop their violent behavior. If a student is becoming violent because of gangs a dress code cannot prevent that. A student isn't going to care about a silly dress code if they are acting out and being violent. All the students talk and rumors still spread, so nomatter what they will know who is involved with what and who is in gangs and who is not.

  • It makes it worse

School uniforms don't stop them from forming. In fact, it actually helps the gangs too. The school uniforms will actually help the gangs camouflage with the neutral students. Then, you have a real problem. You then have people that can't identify the gang members. Gang are getting smarter as time goes by. We need to get smarter too.

  • Uniforms do not prevent gangs.

Clothing is simply a symbol of gangs. It is not the basis or reason for them. Gangs are formed for many reasons, and not because of clothing. Uniforms will not keep gangs from forming, and while they may stop the most obvious form of gang symbolism, there are other ways to identify gang members.

  • Uniforms will not prevent gangs from forming.

As a student, I know that it's a fact that regardless of uniforms,it will not prevent gangs from forming in schools. The members of the gang will find a way to identify themselves. For example, the girls in one gang will have a specific way to tie their ribbons and the boys a specific type and brand of socks they wear, etc.

  • No, gangs have uniforms of their own.

Gangs create uniforms when they are created. They use some secretive change in clothing to identify themselves and each other. A patch on the sleeve, or a twist in a knot on the tie, somehow the gangs will find a way to use the uniforms to their advantage. There are probably ways to get the gangs out, but uniforms will not work.

  • Uniforms do not effect the outside activity of today's youth.

I believe that a uniform would only push today's youth to get more involved with outside gang activity, if not push them to drop out of school. Also, gangs would be more inclined to center out the students wearing the uniforms. Gangs are going to be gangs with or without uniforms, and I think it would cause more harm than good.

  • Uniforms do not prevent gang activity.

As a student of a school that brought uniforms in during my time there, I know firsthand that uniforms had no effect on whether or not gangs were formed. In fact, it even became a source of gang pride, in that gang moments used subtle objects to represent their affiliation. Uniforms aren't going to stop this, and could become a reason to rebel to go against what is right. Let students be free, but don't assume that this is going to stop something that happens in and out of the schoolhouse or workplace.

  • I have no other word but this: ridiculous.

Uniforms in school aren't going to keep people from forming gangs, and they are not going to stop people from getting picked on. Kids, especially teenagers, are not the best people in the world because their brains are still developing, and they're selfish and mean by nature.

The ones that have a bad enough home life to join a gang aren't going to be stopped just because they can't wear this or that or the other. It is also not going to magically stop teenagers from being mean to each other and picking on little differences that they find.
