The internet users tendency to believe anything they read is rampant in viral content. While there are a few prominent websites that try and expose the truth behind well spread rumors, most internet users don't even think to use these sites. Until truth revealing websites become as popular as Wikipedia for getting information, we need better and more prominent whistleblowing.
I don't think that there is anything wrong with increasing the number of whistle blower sites out there. If doing so can be done in a cost effective manner and safely, then we only have things to gain by implementing such a scheme. Accountability is always a good thing in my book.
For us as a nation to have faith in the organizations and groups around us, we need to have as much accountability as possible in place. One such way to ensure this is to have as many ways as possible to tell when a group or person is doing something wrong.
There comes a time when we need to realize as a country that we do not need to constantly be tattle tailing one another to death. Whistleblowing has its place, but the last thing we need to do is to come up with more ways to do it. Enough is enough.
