Women and men definitely have equal rights. Although women complain about how they don't have equal rights, they are wrong and just want something to protest about. I can't think of a single right men have in the U.S. Which women don't. Women can join the navy, army, and even the marines. When someone comes up with a dumbass protest saying "men get paid more than women", it's because men probably have better jobs, so please stop saying women don't have equal rights.
Women often complain about not having a job, but when they do get one they can't give it a hundred percent because of their kids. A man with kids does the same and he lives far away from his family just to provide for them. If a man does this and nobody even acknowledges it, why do woman feel like they should be acknowledged when they do the same?
Women definitely should have equal rights. Women are not something inferior. Women are people as well as men, only women are different than men. Rights, however, should be fair, so the same for all, no matter if someone is a woman or from another continent. This does not mean that a woman is less intelligent or less capable than men.
I have lived 21 years to this day. From my experience and all the numerous men and women I have met, women are not prejudiced against in social or work related situations any more than men are. In fact the group that receives the largest amount of help from affirmative action, has always been white women.
In this society women get away with everything. Women can constanly beat on a man, day after day, and no one would even bat an eyelid because "women can't harm men" however if a man were to even sneeze in the direction of women he would be be sent to jail, because women have this much power.
We live in an imperfect society where women are often looked at differently than men. Due to our history, this is just a reality. However, the law sees men and women as equals, and it has been this way for at least fifty years. Affirmative action gives women equal opportunity. They can not be discriminated against.
I believe, women in countries such as England, France and America ect do have equal rights, however in a way they're unequal as they sometimes get treated better than men. Although I agree at some point women didn't have equal rights because it's a fact they didn't, as they couldn't vote or do some other things. But to this day there are cases where women are treated above men. For example, men can be victims of rape, abuse and other worldly evils, but people seem to forget that. I believe people get too caught up in trying to give women MORE rights, when they should be focused on just creating equal rights for everybody. A final thing people forget, is that in some cultures, equality isn't necessarily possible or needed. Some religions like Islam, believe men are better than women, but that's not for Christians and Catholics to change just so women can have equal rights. It's wrong to try and change a religions rules and beliefs, even if it could be beneficial to some.
America today has over achieved with women's history and we have reached our goal to complete our task for equal rights. Some people might think differently and if they do they are thinking wrong because the data shows the difference if you searched. You better think again if you said no.
Women and men are not equal as such is impossible. The scales will always tip more in favor of one not the other. We are pretty close but in our culture, women are in charge, they currently have the same amount of rights with little extra perks including but not limited to,
get custity of children unless proven otherwise
gets the house if devorce happens (sometimes)
gets the top end of society (everyone cares about women, no one cares about men),
easier time at getting most jobs (exception being labor intensive, but some would consider it a + on the field for being a women for it to show initiative)
gets paid more on the general scale.
Now with the paid more what isn't take to account is that, men can not take maternity leave, they have to pay extra to please the women (men are easy to please generally, and its free :P). They are generally looked at for their money earnings (face it, men are very much judged on their income).
However this is our society, i think that women and men should be treated equals, but since humanity always has a leaned scale, it will never happen.
Firstly for all the talk of inequality in the western world the females actually have it pretty well of. If one were to think about it females get the same rights men do but they have greater opportunities due to laws that say that a certain number of females must be in a business or other alongside the fact that in court cases, disputes or something along the line the woman get the best out of it thus males have the short end of the stick in this generation. Secondly in in western countries woman are equal but in the Middle East the problems arise yet feminists do nothing there. I will agree that there are males who look at woman like trash but there are woman who do the same to men and the woman get away with it. You cannot judge a group by a few individuals. By the way I am male and awesome.
They don't because women work more and get paid less. Also men get more stuff because of their gender in some countries. Men in women should have the same amount of rights but they don't man have more and women have less and it's a issue for some people.
Women DON'T have equal rights, women work and they don't get paid as much as the men do! MEN think that it's all cool, but take a walk in womens' shoes. Men always underestimate women, but they are equal. Give me 1 just 1 reason why women shouldn't get rights.
Now also women are treated differently specially in Asia. I am from India and here if a man drinks or smokes its fine but if a woman do the same society treats her like a criminal. Society tells that girls and boys are equal but its just a saying. Less girls are educated by their families in comparison to boys.
Men and women are ostensibly equal, but, in practice, that isn't always how it works. Women are still often paid less than men for doing the same jobs, for example. There are also certain jobs that are traditionally thought of as being "for men" (and some that are "for women") that have barriers to entry for the other gender. We are making progress but there is a way to go.
Men still get to get into different jobs and clubs and other social accurances while women are still held from those things simply because some men believe they are higher and mightier than a woman. This country has come a long way but it still has a very long way to go before it reaches sexual equality
Women have more rights when it comes to custody and ownership of items during divorces, women have the whole sexual abuse/rape "rights" as well. Everyone on here is talking about other countries like 3rd world countries or countries that have thousands of years of tradition. Which is fair enough, but that doesn't make it a good point as to why men in western society have more power at all....
See how hard it is to get a second date, if you don't pay for the first date when youre a man. Single women between the ages of 24 & 30 are more educated than men in the same age group and on average earn more money thaen men. Still I'm a single man earning less than most woman, I have no problem finding a date, women like my personality, but when I tell them at the end of the date I expect to be treated equally by splitting the bill they become outraged and think it is their right to get every thing for free. Please don't use the excuse that whoever asks should pay, as men are rarely asked out.
Women obviously have more rights than men. Did you get your girlfriend pregnant? It's her choice whether to actually have the child, and you'll end up having to pay child support whether you agree with her choice or not. Never mind the fact that you only have two choices of birth control compared to her 17 choices, you're going to pay up for the next eighteen years.
Feminism has pushed the delicate equilibrium men and women have shared for all of history. Women were never oppressed and never will be, men and women only fulfilled their roles and responsibilities in an environment of hostility without technological advances. Now that this balance is broken, it is clear that women are the favoured gender in this society through affirmative action and discrimination against men. Where is the equality in family court, where is the equality in conscription, where is the equality in help and fundraising for victims of domestic violence and disease?
Men are expected to put up with it and shut up because they are men.
Direct quotes from the Qu'Ran
Men are superior to women on account of the qualities with which God has gifted the one above the other, and on account of the outlay they make from their substance for them. Virtuous women are obedient, careful, during the husband's absence, because God has of them been careful. But chide those for whose refractoriness you have cause to fear; remove them into beds apart, and scourge them: but if they are obedient to you, then seek not occasion against them: verily, God is High, Great! Rodwell
Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allah has given the one more (strength) than the other, and because they support them from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient, and guard in (the husband's) absence what Allah would have them guard. As to those women on whom part you fear disloyalty and ill conduct, admonish them (first), (next), refuse to share their beds,
------->>>>(and last) beat them (lightly); but if they return to obedience, seek not against them means (of annoyance) for Allah is Most High, Great (above you all). Ali<----
The Qu'Ran advocated beating of women and their subservience. Islam sucks sorry. You can't force me to respect all beliefs.
I'm fine with Hindus, but not you Muslims subjugating your women and blowing yourselves up.
