Do you agree with Obama's executive orders on gun control?

Asked by: ladiesman
  • There small measures.

Obama's executive order will not negatively affect law abiding citizens. If your a criminal than this will hurt your ability to get a firearm. Executive orders have also been around for a while, with many presidents using them countless times. It is also clear that congress is not willing to do anything about this, despite the fact that many Americans support universal background checks.

  • Use your common sense

The message that Obama is attempting to get out is essentially, "Use your common sense". If America wants to curb the type of senseless slaughter we saw in bloodbaths like Sandy Hook, Virginia Tech, San Bernardino, Aurora, etc. then we have to address what enables guns to fall into the wrong hands.

  • I support it.

President Obama's executive order on guns will help reduce gun violence. Will there still be gun violence after this order is enacted? Of course. Any nation that grants people the right to own and use guns will have gun violence. But there will be less of it, and I consider this a positive direction the nation should be headed in. When there's a mass shooting practically every week inside of America, I think that's evidence that there's simply way too many people in the nation with guns that shouldn't possess them. But I'm all for the possession of guns by responsible gun owners.

  • It's still consistent with the 2nd Amendment.

There's a reason why the President has these powers. If the congress is too stupid to do anything, then he has no choice but to do this. Nobody in their right mind should oppose this. It in no way effects law abiding citizens, and it does nothing to restrict the 2nd Amendment. Criminals should not get their hands on guns.

  • There is no need for civilians to have guns. We have an army and police to do the job for us.

Forget the right to bear arms. The constitution was made over 200 years ago and our founding fathers even gave us the ability to ratify amendments. Criminals do have bad backgrounds and besides, we have police and the military that can protect us. It is unlikely that the government's corrupt.

  • Keep Constitutional Rights

People love to say that in this day in era constitional rights should be limited to protect us. That we should give the government more power and limit the rights of individuals to protect us from foreign entities. But, this fails to even uphold the entire reason the constitutional rights were put into effect. The goal of our rights is not to protect us from foreign powers, but from the powers on our soil. The goal of our right to bear arms is to protect us from a tyrannical government oppressing its own citizens. We need the right to bear arms to protect us from our nearest threat, our own government.

  • Use your common sense...

The constitution of the United States gives law making authority to congress. Obama is not the first president to ever enact an overreaching arm of executive authority, but as my grandma used to say, two wrongs don't make a right. Also, the proposed changes that Obama has instituted in his executive order are irrelevant to the Virginia Tech, Sandy Hook, and San Bernadino shootings because these changes would not have kept those shooters from getting guns anyways... Adam Lanza took the guns from his mom, and the S.B. Shooters got them from a friend who bought them legally. This executive order is about as effective as putting a bandage on a belly ache, with the argument for it being "well, heck, it can't hurt! It can only possibly help!"

It does succeed though in very triumphantly disregarding the proper legislative process and bring our country one step closer to the ever encroaching reigns of dictatorship.

  • Not in my life....

Seriously, this executive order right shows how too far Obama has gone beyond his limits of his power. Also, his call to ban guns has only increased gun sales by quite a lot. Huh.... How ironic..... I'm surprised that people were do upset with some of Nixon's actions that were illegal , yet they are ignoring Obama's illegal actions. God.... This country is full of idiots!!!

  • Not only is this our right.... But....

People that want to shoot someone or commit crimes are going to do it regardless of the governments' precautions on the issue. Obama want to heal a gunshot wound with a band-aid! (see what I did there) Now, to think that there's going to be background checks for every gun sale, legal or not legal; and, that all criminals have bad backgrounds is sheer foolishness. Obama wanting to control guns using finger prints is sheer insanity. If this is put into affect, and the government is controlling the system, it's clear how this is gonna go. You wanna know what "makes me mad" Obama? The president using mass shootings to guilt trip people to let the government get more control. That's what should make me, and everyone here, mad.

  • This is ridiculous.

The President must think we all are stupid. As if he hasn't lied in the past about anything. You can keep your doctor and keep your plan sound familiar. This is a desperate push for Obamas legacy with the Democrats because it's his last year. The good thing is with a new Commander in Chief it can be undone just as easily as it was done.

  • Not at all

    Basically this...

"The constitution of the United States gives law making authority to congress. This mental health deal is the most dangerous thing of the entire executive order. Also it's the main thing that is over looked.
