Teaching children to be tolerant of each other's differences will teach them to be tolerant adults. This is a valuable lesson that all people should learn, if we start with future generations it could help make the world a much nicer place for them than it currently is for us. However, it should be done in an age-appropriate way. Personal opinions, hate speech, and politics should play no part in an elementary school setting.
A very large problem is the way different cultures do not understand each other. With Cultural awareness classes, children would understand each other better. Stereotypes and hatred are born of ignorance. If children learned early on that everyone shares this world together, then the earth would be a more peaceful place. Children are friendly by nature, they don't see race or gender as something bad.
Cultural awareness classes should be taught as early as elementary school. In fact, they should be taught as early as preschool. Children accept this education and they accept differences in culture. They are curious and interested. It is the best time for them to be educated about people and their cultures, their differences and their similarities.
I believe that cultural awareness classes should be taught as early as elementary school. Kids are much more accepting of each other at that age and have not learned any biases. Starting early will be a foundation of acceptance for diversity and an appreciation of what all the different cultures bring to society.
I do not think that cultural awareness classes are necessary to be taught in elementary school. I think that elementary school should be about kids learning about the fundamentals and not a place where they learn about social issues that can be complicated. I think that politics need to stay out of elementary school.
