Do you believe same sex marriage should be legal?

  • SHOULD be is not really a concern right now, it's legal whether you like it or not.

Before I hear another "Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve" phrase again, let me say that I understand where Abrahamic Religion followers come from. I do not deny that in Islam, Christianity and Judaism, homosexuality is a grave sin and can't be tolerated. But we do not live in a Judeo-Islamo-Christian society anymore, this is the United States. The separation of church and state has existed since the founding of the country in 1776, along with the first undeniable bill of right that clearly gives citizens the Freedom of Expression.
Now, for someone to be against a certain topic, means that said subject can directly or indirectly affect citizens in a certain way. How exactly does same-sex marriage affect you, fundamentalists? If you believe that homosexuality is a sin, then please let God deal with them on his own. The United States Constitution is not the Bible. You are free to practice Christian law in your own home and enforce them on your Christian, I don't care. But outside of your home, Federal and State law apply and they're the laws that guarantee equality to all people living on American soil no matter what their religion, race or gender is.

In other words, suck it up and deal with it.

  • Live and let live

I'm a Christian. I think gayness is immoral. I think that they should be able to do whatever the heck they want. Even if you do have moral objections to same sex marriage, same sex marriage being legal is not affecting you in anyway, so why are you against it.

  • Yes, you marry the person you love.

If you love someone and they love you as well from the bottom of both of your hearts, no matter what sex... It is true love and you should be allowed to marry freely no matter what the sex is. If you love someone who is the same gender as you and they love you back, so be it. It should definitely be allowed.

  • Obviously it is and should be

''but muh invisible man in the sky says no!''
completely 100% irrelevant, unless the entire human population is religious and believes in the same god out of all the gods then that argument is irrelevant, your feelings don't make the law, LOGIC does and good proper morals and I know I know ''but muh christian morals'' know what else your christian morals say? Rape victims should marry the rapist, woman should never be the boss over men, you are not allowed to wear mixed fabrics or you go to hell, clearly christian ''morals'' are bankrupt and are not valid

    ''but marriage is religious''
    Definition marriage:
''the legally or formally recognized union of a man and a woman (or, in some jurisdictions, two people of the same sex) as partners in a relationship.''
well would you look at that, no mention of religion anywhere, it is merely made up by religious people to control others, which is why religion was made, to control people

  • It already is. Marriage is about love

Marriage is the union of two partners in which their relationship is legally recognized and official. There is no reason why couples of the same sex shouldn't be allowed to get married. Those who say that marriage is religious, and their religion is against same sex relationships— while marriage may have been religion-centered in the past, nowadays not every marriage involved religion, and not everyone is religious. If same sex couples can't be married because of religion, does that mean all atheists or nonreligious people shouldn't be allowed to marry either? Nowadays, marriage is about taking a relationship to the next step, and if a same sex couple wishes to be married, there's no reason why they shouldn't be.

  • It is already legal, and should stay legal.

There is nothing wrong with homosexuality. People who say it is wrong have no good reason to.
Some people say that homosexuality is wrong because their religion is against it. That is not reasonable because you are saying that your religion is entirely correct and you are forcing your religion on someone else. You are saying that you know exactly what God thinks. However, you do not! No one on earth knows exactly what God wants.
Other people say homosexual marriage should not be allowed because homosexuals cannot have children, but some people cannot have children for medical reasons, so if you think a married couple has to be able to have children, you are also against infertile people married, and that is not fair either.
Some people think that homosexuality is risky and will not end well for society. They say that if you are around someone who is homosexual, then you will become homosexual as well. However, that is not correct because homosexuality is not a choice, so it cannot spread like that.
It is impossible for homosexuality to be a choice, because your sexual orientation is intrinsically in you and cannot be changed. You cannot choose who you are attracted to or who you fall in love with. Since homosexuality is not a choice, it should not be considered wrong.

  • I Do Not

God created this Earth in seven days. When he created Adam and Eve, the first two people in the world, he told them "And God blessed them. And God said to them
“Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”- Genesis 1:28. In order to "multiply", a male and female were both needed. A male could not create life with another male.

The Bible later says that homosexuality is a sin. Leviticus 20:13 states that "If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them."

Lastly, the Bible tells that those who commit impure actions, including homosexuality, will not inherit the kingdom of heaven.

1 Corinthians 6:9 "Don't you know that the unrighteous will not inherit God's kingdom? Do not be deceived: No sexually immoral people, idolaters, adulterers, or anyone practicing homosexuality,"

From this we can conclude that homosexual marriage is just as much sin in God's eyes as the action of being homosexual. Homosexual marriage should not be legal. Thank you.

  • As a homosexual, not really.

Of course homosexuality is fine, and should be acceptable (I am grateful it is to most people). However marriage, a religious practice, should not extend to homosexuals - unless Christianity allows it. We have to respect their views, especially since they are harmless. We, homosexuals, have civil partnerships and therefore do not need marriage - which is just a substitute.
