There are no positive outcomes of going over the fiscal cliff, at least none that would be enough to justify the risks. Going over the fiscal cliff could lead to finicial catastrophe for the United States, and for various other countries. The taxes that ordinary people pay would increase, and it could possibly lead to more unemployment.
The biggest reason going over the fiscal cliff is dangerous is because then people would lose faith in the United States, resulting in a collapse or at least devaluing of the American dollar. The American dollar is what is used to trade internationally, so this would be very dangerous indeed.
I believe the worst outcome is obtained by going over the fiscal cliff. When the United States goes over the fiscal cliff there is no longer any cash on hand to pay bills and things begin to go into default. Since they can't control what does and does not get paid, it could mean those on disability not receiving their benefits or it could mean missed payments to foreign countries. Doing so would also signal major problems with the economic system which would probably trigger a worldwide economic collapse. I can't even imagine what that would be like.
I personally think that the worst outcome is not obtained by going over the fiscal cliff it could be there to benefit as well as a choice that everyone has and it is whether or not the person decisions to make. I personally think that sometimes a worst case scenario has to happen for some individuals to understand.
The worst outcome could have benefits if we don't go over the cliff. When and if we go over the cliff, more bad outcomes will happen as a result of it. There is benefits when we don't go over the cliff, and that is when we try to fix what is causing the fiscal crisis in first place. Talking about it and looking at the loopholes or whatever problems is causing it is a step in the right direction.
