Do you support #blacklivesmatter (yes) or #alllivesmatter(no)?

  • Black Lives matter

Black lives matter doesn't mean that other lives don't matter why people still try to argue that point is beyond me. Black Lives Matter stands up for Blacks who get unfairly targeted by the police. Domestic violence campaigns usually focus on violence but no one complains that they are anti-male. Both violence against men and police violence against non blacks are important issues but they are not as large as violence against women or police violence against non-blacks.

  • "All lives matter" is wrong.

The point of Black Lives Matter isn't to suggest that black lives should be or are more important than all other lives, but instead that black people's lives are relatively undervalued in the US (and more likely to be ended by police), and the country needs to recognize that inequity to bring an end to it.

Reddit user GeekAesthete made this point in a thread explaining why the phrase "all lives matter" is offensive:

Imagine that you're sitting down to dinner with your family, and while everyone else gets a serving of the meal, you don't get any. So you say "I should get my fair share." And as a direct response to this, your dad corrects you, saying, "everyone should get their fair share." Now, that's a wonderful sentiment -- indeed, everyone should, and that was kinda your point in the first place: that you should be a part of everyone, and you should get your fair share also. However, dad's smart-ass comment just dismissed you and didn't solve the problem that you still haven't gotten any!

Straub's cartoon echoes this point: If a house is burning down, you're obviously going to focus on putting out the fire instead of watering a house that's just fine. In this analogy, black lives are the burning house, and everyone else is living much more comfortably in the house that isn't burning down. Clearly, one is a bigger problem.

  • Racism still goes on

Most people will say that racism doesn't happen anymore but in fact they are in fact wrong. Africans and African Americans are still judged upon their color due to the history/the past. It is not just African Americans but sometimes it is different races that are also getting judged also.

  • I mean, not actively, but I do think it's a good movement.

I think there is nothing wrong with black people saying they matter. It makes me sad that they have to do it, but if they need to use this movement to start a conversation over how they are mistreated.. It's good.

If it wasn't true, then there should be a rational discussion over why it isn't true. It seems insulting that the backlash puts words in the mouth of the movement by making a counter movement (alllivesmatter) to squash a rational discussion. Denying problems doesn't make them go away. It just shows how callous some people can be.

  • An Impossible Question

I am of the opinion that the Black Lives matter movement and the All Lives Matter movement should merge, support each other, or at least acknowledge the others existence. The question is impossible because you cannot support one without the other. BlackLivesMatter cannot be supported and deny the face that White, or Asian, or Indian lives matter. All Lives matter agree that Black lives matter.

  • #Black Lives Matter

The black lives matter movement is meant to bring attention to police brutality in the black community. Because of racial profiling and stereotyping, black people are instantly up to no good. They're thugs according to the stereotypes. Until the racial profiling stops, there will be no end to the Black Lives matter movement.

  • Blm > Alm

Of course all lives matter, but right now because of racial inequality and police brutality black lives matter. This whole movement of " all lives matter" really takes away from the whole purpose of black lives matter and it's really frustrating because people are taking this movement and making it about themselves.

  • Black Lives Matter is a Political Tool of the Democratic Party

All Lives Matter is the only mantel we all should be saying.
Yes, there is police brutality against Blacks, however, it is definitely not the principal cause of homocides in the Black Community.
We must tackle the elephant in the room which is Black on Black crime.
Unfortunately, our political and media system does not want to address the issue.

  • #All Lives Matter isn't needed right now.

Right now most social injustice is against members of the black community. They are using #BlackLivesMatter to make people hear their voice and help them understand their pain. To then counter it with #AllLivesMatter is to belittle and discredit the movement. And what people need to consider is that members of the white community generally aren't targets for racism, or other types of offense, and black people are. It's not to say that all lives don't matter, because they absolutely do, and I'm not saying black people's lives matter more than anyone else's, I'm just saying that countering #BlackLivesMatter with #AllLivesMatter is just wrong. Right now blacks need their voices heard to end the injustice, and that's what #BlackLivesMatter is for. Everyone deserves equality, but it's the black ones that are the focus right now.

  • Neither of them

I don't really support either, but I like how antiestablishment black lives matter is. Black lives matter is an emotional movement, who overstates the amount of police brutality and twists perfectly normal police procedure to fit their narrative. Bottom line, force isn't pretty. The other problem with BLM, is that the solution is worse than the problem itself or ineffective at best. Their policies, would in effect handcuff police and prevent them from doing their job.

The all lives matter movement is worst. They're a bunch of bootlickers who think we should never question authority and just blindly follow orders

  • The movement is stupid.

#blacklivesmatter doesn't care about black lives, if they did, they would focus on the biggest plague on the black community, which is children being born out of wedlock, or more specifically, fatherless households. In regards to gun killing, 95% of black people are killed by other black people, and only a fraction of the 5% that are killed by non-blacks are even killed by cops. So the #blm movement is focusing on the least destructive aspect and claiming to have a goal centered on valuing black lives.

The very act of asking someone if they support #blacklivesmatter implies that that person may possibly not care about black lives, and thus they need to reaffirm their long held morals in defense of an attack on their character by saying "yes of course I support it." Well, this is bullying. I don't cater too well to being bullied, and I do not support the P.C. Farce that is "#blacklivesmatter." It is nothing more than a tool to make white people feel guilty. Shame on anyone who supports this movement which is actually HOLDING BACK the progress of not only black people in this country by reigniting racism, but it is hurting the progress of our country in general.

  • No One Race Matters More

Black lives matter implies that black lives take precedence and that we should ignore all other lives, but that is not true. All lives matters, even the white police officers this movement targets.

Contrary to what the people of Ferguson believe, there is no way against black kids, it's just the cops doing what they need to do to defend their neighborhoods.

  • All luves matter

ALL LIVES MATTER BOTH BLACKS AND WHITES THE SAYING "black lives matter" IS RACIST BECAUSE WHAT ABOUT WHITE LIVES????DON'T THEY MATTER ALL LIVES MATTER IS NOT RACIST IT IS SAYING BLACK AND WHITE AND PURPLE AND RAINBOW PEOPLE MATTER ALL PEOPLE MATTER NOT JUST BLACKS BUT ALL PEOPLE ARE IMPORTANT!!!

  • All lives matter, why don't we learn to love

Every since the shootings in Ferguson, many African Americans have supported the black lives matter campaign. In the opinion of many in this poll, this is flat out stupid. All lives matter!! Everyday Hispanics, blacks, Asians, and even Caucasians are oppressed somewhere in the world. Although the media has portrayed this as a black against white fight, its really a fight for us all. If we all learned to love each other for who we are none of this would happen. Also, police aren't all white, and they all don't go around killing people. If you are stopped by a police officer, them just be nice, give them respect and most of them will give respect back to you. Trying to run from the police is stupid, and can cause you to get shot. I'm almost sure that if a white male ran from the police and he had a gun then they would shoot him. America doesn't have a race problem, we have a problem with everyone respecting each other. As a wise man once said, all men bleed red.

  • BLM is racist

They are trying to be like the Black Panthers. Whenever a black person is killed by a white person or a cop, there is a protest. But how come the other estimated 6000 black people killed by other black people don't get a protest? Their lives mattered. A 1 year old kid was ran over in Chicago when another black man was shot and the suspects were trying to get away. That man and the kids lives mattered. They've also sponsored Black Panther chairman Malik Shabazz, the same man who honors Osama Bin Laden and is anti- semitic, and who says that white people are black peoples common enemy. As I recall, this wasn't MLK's dream. "I have a dream that one day, down in Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of "interposition" and "nullification" -- one day right there in Alabama little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers." said MLK. It wasn't "I have a dream that one day we will blame white people for everything and encourage people to murder cops and innocent white people." And while the faces of Trayvon Martin, Freddie Gray, Mike Brown, and all of those faces recognized and promoted by BLM, the other 6000 faces of black people aren't anywhere else but in their families memories. They haven't gotten any recognition, and they didn't ask to be killed. They were victims of irrelevant and disgusting violence. Gang violence is definitely a big factor of that too. When a white person is killed by another white person, or by even a black person, no one cares either. Black on white occurs more often than white on black. An average 560,600 violent crimes were committed by black people against white people, whereas 99,403 violent crimes were committed by white people against black people, which is a DOJ statistic that was taken in the 2012/2013 time period. Black Lives Matter? Doesn't seem so.

Is this poll really about whether black peoples' lives matter more than other people? That is racist as hell! How are people even engaging in this?!

'Black Lives Matter' is just saying that the lives of blacks are considered worthless. They feel like they need to point that out. Of course, police brutality pales in comparison to blacks killing other blacks.
