  • I don't exactly get it...

A lot of drugs are illegal, but whats so different about alcohol? Drugs get you high, and alcohol gets you drunk. Pretty much the SAME THING. Sometimes drunk people get and act worse than people that are high. I'm not on either side, and I think it should all or most of it should be illegal, but alcohol may as well be illegal too right?

  • Alchohol: A Danger to Society.

I believe that drinking alcohol should be banned from consumption in large amounts, and those who are publicly intoxicated should face massive fines. Operating a vehicle whilst under the influence of alcohol should be punishable by death.

Many people think that alcohol is benign but it ruins lives. Families are broken up and people die.

    It serves no benefit.

Whilst I believe people should be allowed to consume it in small amounts, I think that large amounts leading to intoxicated trouble , should be punishable by million dollar fines, and death for those who have millions of dollars. It is unnacpetable.

  • Yes it should be illegal

From alcohol everyone is effected drinkers or non-drinkers due to financial costs that alcohol brings.
Eg : medication, doctors, police, violence, bad reputation, court costs, imprisonment, etc. most of these cost is infect taken from all the taxes and insurance premiums we all pay
    Also
Alcohol a huge impact on health. Many young people with fully development drink alcohol, which courses errors in their physical and mental developments.

  • Alcohol is a drug

I don't get the people who say no. People are willing to make pot, steerage, and heroin illegal but not alcohol?Alcohol is worse than all of the drugs combined. Do you know why? There is absolutely like only two laws restricting it. People under 21 can't drink and drinking while driving is illegal. So you people who say no is basically tell the people who had their loved ones die in a drunk car accident that acholol is ok?For those people who think that acholol is no problem for anybody should look into this link:http://www.Drugfreeworld.Org/drugfacts/alcohol.Html

  • It's a danger!

Alcohol and alcoholism are two things that taint the minds of the American people and also cause crime. Now, not everyone that drinks alcohol is an alcoholic, but it can always still happen. And let's not mention, it's slow death. Much like cigarettes, alcohol is full of chemicals that ruin the human health. And alcohol also causes Ulcers in the body that damage the stomach, intestines and throat. Alcohol may lead to: Accidental homicide / suicide, Domestic violence, Animal abuse, Child abuse, Alcohol poisoning, Ulcers, Cancers, Kidney failure and DEATH!

Looking at both pros and cons, we can easily see that alcohol is not worth it. It's slow death and just leads to bad influence on society. Make it illegal before it's too big an issue!

  • Anyone who says yes is a !Diot.

Look at the messed up abolition period. Look at the crime rates when we had legal pot and alcohol, and compare it to the times when one or both were illegal. You can't even begin to think that the black market is better then the white market. It is so much safer for the dealer, the supplier, and the user, and the people around the user when it is legal. We can regulate it, and let's not forget, tax it.

  • Because prohibition worked so well

Starting from a historical perspective, not only have humans been drinking some form of alcohol in most cultures for centuries, when it was made illegal during the prohibition era in the States, it was quite an unsuccessful exercise. So based on that alone, we shouldn't ban something from a social point of view.

The more indirect argument, would be that letting the government tell everyone what they can and cannot have is silly anyway. Most people enjoy intoxicating substances and handle them reasonably well, so denying them those things just leads to more people being unhappy. Let people choose for themselves and if they cant handle that responsibility, then only punish them individually

  • We are free to rule our life the way we want

The government is not a dad who got to educate the people with good values, and forbid him to do "dangerous things" . If someone wants to drink alcohol he should be free to do it(i'm not promoting aloolism, i'm just saying it is a matter of personnal choice, and the more we keep Uncle Sam out of our individual choices, the best it is). Furthermore this has also been experienced during the prohibition period, and it was a complete failure.

  • While I do agree

With the fact that many more people than the consumer are affected by the beverage, that doesn't mean that it should be completely removed from restaurants and bars entirely. And, just like the consumption of it, the removal of alcohol would affect more than just the people who drink it. Many establishments would close, the breweries would inevitably close, and on top of that people would be ridiculously unhappy with congress and the president even further.

Unfortunately, about 88000 deaths a year are linked to alcohol which is why I think bartenders and managers shouldn't be allowed to let someone walk out of a bar or restaurant drunken out of their wits. I don't think the complete removal of it is necessary to prevent these deaths. They should be able to call someone to pick up said person and bring them home, be it police or family member. Also, many people have pointed out that prohibition failed miserably. People are ALWAYS going to find a way to get this stuff. You simply can't deprive an estimated 130.6 million of this, I'm sorry, you just can't.

  • Prohibition doesn't work.

Remember there was a time when alcohol WAS illegal- prohibition. And that did not work. During prohibition people were drunk more than ever because they wanted to rebel. Drinking was even more dangerous than now because it wasn't government regulated. If alcohol is legal government can set a drinking age and arrest drunk drivers. Also, during prohibition there were violent gangs competing for the sale of alcohol and the end of prohibition made these gangs irrelevant.

  • It will never be illegal

I'm not saying that it should, I'm just saying it's VERY unlikely. Remember the Valentine's Day Massacre? Many men were killed and it was in the news and all over headlines and alcohol still ended up legalized. Millions of people suffer from being alcoholics but its not like they did it on purpose. Some people need alcohol to survive for the moment. It's a very diverse thing but in the end, it shouldn't be illegal and I don't think that it would ever happen again.

  • Alcohol should not be illegal because Its up to the person in whether they decide to drink it or not.

Alcohol is Alcohol like cigarettes its a vice and addictive, along with legal in most places in comparison to drugs. The issue is if Its so harmful yet legal why do people not practice self-control? In any case its one of the lesser damaging things someone can ingest regularly along with the fact its been prevalent through human history.
