Do you think feminism is hurting men? (Chivalry is not a concept introduced by feminism.)

  • The general acts of feminism...

Don't hurt men, but radical people involved in feminism. Who support only helping one side or belive one gender to be horrible, can. As pontob stated 'Feminism is the idea that we can make both sides equal by focusing solely on the issues of one of them'. For example radical feminists might consider males to be horrible towards women and will spread their views across, discriminating all males. Also a majority of feminists have the idea that its not safe at night, due to males attacking them or whatever. Which I personally think is rediculous and unlikely.

  • I think so.

First of all I don't think feminism has a crippling effect on men, and obviously it has made some real changes in the world, but I do think it is harmful in many ways.
    1. Feminism is defined as equality for women. This suggests that gender issues are a women's issue and not a human issue. This often causes society to work solely in the interests of women. For example, the campaign to end violence against women and girls, excluding any men and even young boys who may be attacked.
    2. Feminism often labels problems that both genders face as women's problems. For example: The male only draft. Despite the fact that men are the victims of this feminism paints a picture of it as a women's problem because they are being excluded. It is true that this is insulting to women as well, but to label it as a women's issue is ignorant of these problems affect on everyone, not just women.
    3. Feminism constantly pushes for laws such as affirmative action to increase the amount of women in certain fields. While it is very debatable that the wage gap even exists, it is also absent in any female dominated fields, for example nurses have no affirmative action for men despite the massive disparity in genders, but almost any male dominated profession has affirmative action in place for women. Feminism does not push for balance in female dominated areas because it is not its intention to solve that problem, it it completely one sided.
This quote summarizes my view on this topic : "Feminism is the idea that we can make both sexes equal by focusing solely on the issues of one of them."

  • Feminism is traditionalism on steroids

By feminism the man is forced to become the breadwinner in the traditional sense by force of law, but without any reward he might receive from a traditionalist women or might have received in the past. Everybody gets unhappy, including women and of course the kids through custody battles etc.

  • There can no dominance of both sides

The concept of "feminism" in summary is about "equality" but the truth is in reality it is nothing more but a ridiculous notion. Humans has always existed in disparity in various forms and this diversity is what makes us human. To deny it, is to deny humanity itself. Feminism itself is causing disproportionate imbalance in how nature functions, but I blame not anyone who is participating in it as every action comes at a price, and the price that we men is paying within this generation itself is "feminism", which is practically destroying everything. A cycle preceded by another, in which case the next one will be an extremely brutal one.

  • Yes, it is

Feminism also force women to become slaves of their own beauty that cause men to became slaves of their own sexual pleasure.

Feminism also ruined the lives of both men and women, their true happiness, replaced by seductive happiness. Feminism destroyed women's sense of modesty and men's appreciation of their natural beauty.

Someday women may became prostitutes and men will be tortured because they tempted, like an overloaded bridge that collapsed. The higher the temptation the harder it be resist, Men are vulnerable in resisting temptation, it's science. Is that the feminism wants? War between genders instead of living in true happiness.

Satanic Feminism is the greatest enemy of peace of the world, not Al-Qaeda and China.

  • What quality ...?

If a societal activity actively promotes men, the cry goes up that it’s sexist and must be stopped.
If a societal activity is gender neutral the cry goes up that it’s biased for men and must be stopped.
If a societal activity promotes women, it’s called empowerment and must be supported by all...

  • Yes for sure

Feminism is just turned into man hate, I feel that feminists try to drill into everyone's brains that men are cruel horrible people and rapists which isn't true at all, they do this by using adverts trying to persuade females that men are horrible and cruel by using false statistic which makes what they say believable, feminism should be about equality but now its just nothing do with that and they are purely trying to get males to be hated.

  • Feminists are really he shes!

You hate women and men Equality on life decisions as partners. But women are mother earth we give it life and knowledge of life. The man is the circle of life he protects and balances life. But if you think that men respecting women and women that stay at home to raise there kids is bad . You haven't lived

  • Men can stick it up their ****ing ***es.

I am female and proud of it. Why do men think that women can't go anywhere in life, or that women are only good for having children, that men are so superior because they have deeper voices? I mean, really? When women in show business are told my MEN that they need Botox, they can tell those idiots to go get a gentleman sausage injection.

  • Feminism Helps Men

Feminism is not hurting men. It actually helps men. First, breaking down stereotypical gender roles helps all people. Just as much as this helps women, it helps men who should have the same freedoms to be who they are no matter how close or far it is from gender roles defined by society. Second, the economic equality of women is advantageous to men because their partners and mothers and sisters will be able to contribute more to the family and be fairly compensated. There are many other benefits to all people that come from feminism.

  • No. Quite the opposite

Men benefit from feminism too: feminism is all about breaking down gender roles and barriers in society which, while society puts men on a higher peg than women, hurts men too. Traditional ‘wisdom’ says that women are weaker, less intelligent, unable to lead, emotional, etc, which is obviously harmful to women, but it also says that men must always be strong, protective, the leader, emotionless. These are basically positive attributes, but they still shoehorn men into a very narrow view of what it means to be a man, and emasculates men who do not fit into this traditional view — the quiet, sensitive men, the bookish men, the submissive men. By challenging gender stereotypes, feminism allows both men and women to be themselves.

  • In no way.

In many cases feminism has aided men- it has removed some of the societal expectations on what a "real man" is, allowing the many, many men who didn't fit the traditional machismo to be more comfortable being themselves. It also eases expectations of being the only contributor to the household income, and the stress that can accompany that.
In addition, many policies feminists have fought for helped men as well. Recently, the National Organization of Women fought against the legal standards claiming rape must involve physical force, so coercion and drugs often "didn't count"- but they ALSO added a provision that made it possible for MEN to report rape, and fought the stereotype that a man cannot BE raped.

  • Ideological feminism doesn't, and radical feminism doesn't have the power to do so.

Feminism in the ideological sense is just to give women equal rights within reason. This doesn't mean (and hasn't meant) that you lower the incomes of men while increasing incomes of women. Instead, what has happened is just that women's incomes have increased.

Secondly, radical feminism does not have any power/authority to go through with their plans that actually would hurt men, so while they DO want to hurt men, they have yet to do so (and probably never will).

  • Patriarchy and men are two different things

Feminism is not hurting men. In fact, it helps men by trying to remove the stigma associated with being feminine and the stereotypes that go along with it. Thus, both men and women are under less pressure to "fit" into their gender roles. With feminism, it becomes acceptable for women to take on traditionally "masculine" roles and for men to take on traditionally "feminine" roles. The reason men are given custody less often is because child-rearing is viewed as "feminine". The reason men commit suicide more often is because showing emotion and discussing personal issues is regarded as "girly" and thus something that "real men" shouldn't do.

  • The concept of feminism is not a threat. Interpretation is a whole other story.

I agree that what feminism, at its core, seeks to resolve, cannot be addressed solely through standing up for women. People can be blinded by trying to amend a society and culture that had long been male-dominated, by throwing compensation to women. As a woman, I feel that those on the "yes" side who protest that gender equality should be viewed as a human issue it absolutely correct. But then again, with many controversial philosophical movements, people tend to become polarized. My hope is that we can move forward to free people from gender bias, whether it be judging women for either being a stay-at-home mom or work-oriented or whether it forces men into compulsory military service. (Yes, that is a result of the sexist notion that only males are fit for war, and having a duty to do so.)
