The Constitution promises liberty to all within its reach, liberty that includes certain specific rights that allow persons, within a lawful realm, to define and express their identity. The 14th Amendment guarantees the right to marriage to all citizens, and that denying them marriage robs them of liberty entitled to them by law. Marriage is an ennobling institution that bestows dignity upon those who enter it.
With two or more wives thing will get done much faster and a number of them can get jobs so they will bring in the cash dollar for the house hold. This is taking dual income to the next level so polygamy is aight hey and no need to discriminate.
Polygamy works, it may not be for you because of your personal obstacles, or 'moral viewpoints', but the fact of the matter is that it is ok to be in love with more than one Man or Woman. Being in love with more than one person does happen. Having one Wife or Husband is fine if that is what you want, but for those that love a third, it should be as commonly acceptable as love between two persons.
There is no good reason to deny that we must keep evolving until an adult, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, monogamy or polyamory, race, or religion is free to marry any and all consenting adults. The limited same-gender freedom to marry is a great and historic step, but is NOT full marriage equality, because equality "just for some" is not equality. Let's stand up for EVERY ADULT'S right to marry the person(s) they love. Get on the right side of history!
I don't believe that we should make polygamists able to have health benefits for all the wives/husbands or that we should provide government benefits to this type of thing, but if you are with a bunch of consenting adults and you want to be married to each other, who am I to stop you.
I don't think polygamy works in today's society. People are too jealous. There is something about the arrangement that smacks of sexism. I can see why polygamy would be attractive to men, but not to women. Plus, I think marriage is between two people, whether gay or straight, but just two. More than that gets complicated from a tax and benefit perspective.
Polygamy is an outdated concept used purely for procreation of the species when humans didn't have access to good health care and we only lived to age 40. There is no excuse for polygamy today as there are more than 7 billion humans on Earth, we live to age 80 and modern medicine lets women have children past age 40 on a frequent basis. The ancient need for procreation no longer exists. Humans, if anything, should keep our sexual hormones to ourselves before we overpopulate the planet even more.
There are many opinions flying around about marriage right now - and while many people have turned the corner on the idea of homosexual marriage, a lot of those people would struggle with polygamy. Why? Because with gay marriage it's OK for consenting adults to make decisions for themselves based on what they believe to be right for them; however, in terms of polygamy, it is hard to see the consent in every case.
I do not think polygamy is acceptable no matter what society is like our how much time has gone by in the world. You should only have one wife not several. If you think you need several wives than obviously you were not ready to be married in the first place.
