Do you think social network site are responsible for teen suicide and cyberbully ?

Asked by: stephannoi
  • Yes i notice those who create social network site are lack of concern

Yes they should be responsible. There are 4,400 teen commit suicide every year. Also some social network site such as facebook and twitter you don't have privacy and security at all.We can't let those cyberbullies keep continue bully others through internet. In USA and other countries teen death go so far beyond the limit.SO PLEASE BE CONCERN.

  • Yes and No to social media is responsible

It makes sense because it is the only way for a person to utterly humiliate someone and it is in front of everyone. Social media is the responsibility of cyber bulling, but not completely on teen suicide. I should know because I was once cyber bullied, but they only put it on social media because they are too afraid to say it in your face

  • No, also there is a logical fallacy in this question.

There is a black or white logical fallacy here, that is too easy to spot, social media may play some part in this, but is by no means 100% responsible, therefore putting yes would just be, well, kind of stupid unless the question is changed to something along the lines of 'does social media play a part in teen suicide or cyberbullying?', but until that is the question, no is my answer.

  • Not Their Responsibilty

Social media sites are designed for friends to connect to each other in cases where they wouldn't be able to otherwise. How the users use it to interact with each other is their own choice, it is not the website's fault. They are their to provide a service. It's kind of like saying the phone company should be responsible for harassing phone calls.

  • There are always other reasons

Just because somebody calls you names online and you cant see them it doesnt mean that...... That they dont fight back- and- fourth. It is stupid that people would say this or debate this ever body has their own reasons personal or nah, yes i just went there.... So ya.

  • Moderators are there to make sure the website runs smoothly

Not to make sure its users are safe. Some sites do take precautions (eg Tumblr allows users to report to mods if they think there is something going on with another user, and they ask you if you're ok if you're looking up words such as suicide) but I don't think that's their responsibility in the first place. Like Lumberjay85 said how users interact is none of the mods' concern and bullying would probably continue even without that particular social media platform.
