I think alternative energy will start to develop rapidly in the upcoming decade as modernized nations look to move off of polluting energy sources, eventually there will be a point where alternative energy sources have become powerful enough that we can shut down many coal and nuclear plants entirely and run it all off clean energy.
If a car, train, or bus can ride on alternative energy sources than surely we can engineer a way to decrease pollution in major cities. The first step in determining if the solutions will work is to try them. Using alternative energy sources may require doing business a bit differently, however companies should be on board to reducing pollution.
After-school programs can help to improve the academic performance of children indicate that they have higher aspirations for their future, including greater intentions, move them forward and plan for long-term sustainability. After school programs increased school attendance, improved grades, graduation rates, social skills to students and promote alternative thinking strategies.
The dependence of many nations on coal power is dangerous to the environment as a whole; coal power is extremely dirty and inefficient. Other sources of power, including solar, wind, hydro, and nuclear, should be a major part of our energy policies to ensure that the environment is not continually sacrificed.
A lot of people like to whine and moan about alternative energy sources being unproven. Well, a great way to prove them is to build them. And that needs funding, which the whiners don't want to give it. So I doubt we'll ever really know what alternative energy source can do until we have no other choice.
