  • Definitely, on a global scale.

Like it or not, all humans are part of history. History is made everyday.
History isn't everyone's cup of tea and it's fine, maybe history isn't needed for some people but it is needed on a global scale.

If we don't learn from the past, we could end up making the same mistakes as the people before us. Also, history helps us to appreciate the hardships the prev generations before us went through. Like, if we learn about WW2, we would be able to appreciate what war veterans went through.

Also, history links to the present. The Korean War tells us why North Korea hates the US and the Communist-Nationalist War in China after WW2 tells us why China and Taiwan aren't friendly with each other. The Cold War is partially responsible for modern day terrorism.

Do not forget, certain traditions still exist today, such as celebrations like Christmas, New Year and Valentines. If you say the past doesn't matter then try to get rid of holidays and see where the world goes.

It's fine to not like history, you don't need to apply it in your life. But we need it on a global perspective. History is here to stay.

It doesn't matter because this history stuff was 1,000's of years ago. I don't care how Abraham Lincoln died. Its not like the Trojan War will come back. Or George Washington will come back. Mona Lisa is dead. So, just let the past be the past and forget about it!

  • It most Definitely does.

If we don't know about history then we're just going to use the same ways to solve the same problems that others had in the past. If we don't know history then we're going to repeat the way that they tried and, like they did we're going to fail. If we learn from them, though, then there's less of a chance that the same thing will repeat itself because we can learn from their way and find a different way of doing it. And if our way doesn't work, then those who are studying our history can learn from our mistakes and try a different way, instead of just repeating the same old cycle. In essence, human behavior is super repetitive and if we don't study history then we'll do the same things they did, even if we didn't mean to.

  • Its mostly false

A lot of history is just made up, yes, there are things that support the past but, from these things, we can only assume (mostly) what happened in the past, and maybe you know who you are ( lets say you are a very good person who was very intellingent and made a breakthrough in your life), and in the future historians could assume you are an arrogant mischevious person who did nothing but a mistake witch you thoght was a breakthrough.

  • History does not matter

Well for one what does knowing what already happened change or effect. Nothing, you can't change it so why should you care about it spend more time worrying about what will happen that you can currently change. Not junk like Hitler's rise to power like why do I care about how he did got his power can you even prove that if one event changed that it wouldn't still happen. In the end history wont end up happening again and we wont use the same ways to solve problems if we solve them before they happen instead of looking back we would already solve the problems that will happen not are happening as we would have solved those already.

  • History Doesn't Matter

You do not use history in your daily life. Ng that can be left to debate in history is nonsense. I'm not a historian but to get a better understanding of the world I decided to read a variety of history books. This crap goes deep, the left and the right both have their own agendas with history. I'm completely blown away and quite frankly I'm glad academia is mostly m

No I don´t think it matters. I know that people would lose thier job but really don´t think that knowing who discovered america is important you really only need to know who unsegregated blacks and whites. The real important thing is what is going on now not in the past the only thing that matters is the present and the future not what happened in the past.
