Does it surprise you that a good amount of the Pogues band are Lowland Scots and northern English?

  • There's good in every country

However I never expected half of the members to be northern English and southern Scots, the two countries which were the father of the British Empire. Reason I bring it up is because of the song, "Young Ned of the Hill," which bashes Cromwell. For those members who are northern English and southern Scottish, isn't Cromwell from that part of Britain? It comes as a shock. It wouldn't surprise me if it were southern English and Highland Scots. But nevertheless they're a rare exception.
