Does lack of parental support impact the rate of recidivism?

  • Support is Key

In most cases, strong family support is very important for those prisoners whose time has been served and who are trying to re assimilate into society. Love from family and friends, and parents in particular, can be just the right encouragement to keep the person on the straight and narrow.

  • In most cases yes

One of the key factors we see in crime is poor family backgrounds. The vast majority of criminals have as children suffered some type of abuse or neglect. Many have parents who commit crimes themselves, or have been in and out of jail.

Young people need support if they are to break the habit of crime.
