Obamacare allows people to keep their current coverage. You can keep your old health insurance under Obamacare. The only thing that Obamacare does is it allows people who previously were not able to get health insurance because of a preexisting condition to finally be able to get healthcare that is affordable.
Yes, I think some people will keep their current coverage. I believe that if your coverage is adequate enough to meet the standards, then you will be able to keep. There were a lot of insurances with high deductibles and basically not a lot of benefits. Obamacare will allow for better coverage and routine health care.
As made apparent after the roll out of the Affordable Care Act, you are in fact not guaranteed the ability to keep your coverage due to provisions in the law which states that if your policy ever changes, it must henceforth cover all the added expenditures "guaranteed" by Obamacare. This provision, coupled with the reality that health plans always change as a result of age and cost benefits, guarantees that at some point- everyone's health insurance will have to change to the Obamacare standard and will effectively take on new cost along with it.
