Does participating in team sports help develop good character?

  • I think it is a definite yes

Sports can show if a person is willing to cooperate with a team or even a prosper to complete a goal. Which is most likely winning. It can also show character by a person putting effort into the game. This shows if that person is hardworking and or lazy. This is why sports can show and mold a persons character.

  • Yes teamwork or participating in team games leads to a good character

  • Participating in team sports can build good character

Because it allows people to work in a team setting. Of course this doesn't mean that only people who participate in team sports have strong character qualities, and it definitely doesn't mean that everyone who does participate will develop good qualities. However, having people work as a team to strive for a common goal can develop humility, perseverance, and of course, teamwork.

  • It does help

The 3 P's come to mind when thinking about team sports and good character. Practice, patience and persistence. In addition to those kids also learn that life is not always fair and we may not always agree with someone else's decision but you have to keep trying and not give up.

  • Its helps character

The question seems based to defend sports against a charge that there is
no good that can come from sports other than the act itself. I would
like to go the opposite way and say that, along with music, dance, art
and any other activity that brings one into contact and cooperation with
others, can help those of us who participate to develop who we are in relation to other, thus defining our character.

  • It reviles character

I would say it reviles character but it also supports it

  • Sports don't build character, they reveal it

“Anybody who teaches a skill, which coaches do, is admirable. But sport doesn’t build character. Character is built pretty much by the time you’re six or seven. Sports reveals character. Sports heightens your perceptions. Let that be enough.”
    -QI
What this is saying is that people have character and have built it early in life. Sports simply reveal this.

  • Good Character Does Not Necessarily Come From Sports

I believe that participating in team sports does help a person develop good character, but this does not mean that everyone that plays team sports has good character. It also doesn't mean that there aren't other ways to develop good character. Practice, determination, hard work, cooperation, compromise, good sportsmanship, and team work are all good things that sports can teach a person that will help build good character, but not all teams or coaches will offer these lessons.
