  • I don't think the world is better with religion

I am against this argument becaus believing in God or any other religion is not going to help any soul, People give up there lives for God and they with five up other things in there lives just to believe in a man so called God, I don't understand why people do this

  • Religion helps makes the world a better place

Religion does help to make the world a better place. As we have seen religion has created genocide of the Jewish population, the crusades, terrorism and more, but religion does contribute to helping society and other’s around us. The main cause of terror is that people don’t understand different religions creating ‘stereotypes’ and are becoming persuaded of this through extremist who don’t represent their religion. In a world without religion would be a world without pity a world without help to people struggling as religion helps release greed if doesn’t matter if you believe in a god it is the society values and a way of explaining your beliefs.

  • Morality and Physiologically

Religion definitely benefits society. It has benefited from day one. First of all if you do or don't believe in God he has helped us immensely. He has supported us, led us, and even sent his son to die for our sins to save us. Without him we would be nowhere. Religion has given us something to be accountable to. The evil of relativism has contributed to the breakdown of society. Without the laws and commandments to be accountable to people would do what they want. Today's laws have all come from religion. Even secular laws because where did everything originate? It didn't originate from us, but from God. So yes everything, even our laws have come from God. Physiologically It has extremely benefited our society. How many times have people taken their own life because they felt like they had no purpose? Religion give us a sense of purpose. It sends us on a mission in life. A mission to spread the good news and a mission to be a light just as Christ was. So yes I believe and I know Religion has made the world a better place.

  • The Caste is unfair!

The caste system in India is a system of social stratification which historically separated communities into thousands of endogamous hereditary groups called jātis, usually translated into English as "castes". The jātis are thought of as being grouped into four varnas Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas and Shudras. Certain groups, now known as "Dalits", were excluded from the Varna system altogether, ostracised as untouchables. Though caste is considered as dominant feature of Hinduism, in Indian context, it has influenced other religions too like Christianity, Islam, Judaism and Sikhism in the Indian subcontinent Caste is often thought of as an ancient fact of Hindu life, but various contemporary scholars argue that the caste system was constructed by the British colonial regime. Between 1860 and 1920, the British segregated Indians by caste, granting administrative jobs and senior appointments only to the upper castes. Social unrest during 1920s led to a change in this policy. Most people agree that the caste system is pretty unfair. Some people have tried to change things around so that the lower caste people would bet fairer opportunities. With this kindness, and good idea, comes the cons. The higher caste children for example have a real hard time to try and study hard enough for their exams to get into their dream college and have to get 92% of the marks to pass. On the other hand, the lower caste pupils, only need to get around 65%-70% to pass, this is a big difference, therefore making it really unfair.

  • Ethics v.S Religion

Religion itself does not make this world a better place. The term religion is too general because there are many religions in this world. But generally speaking, it may have contributed to the effort to make this world a better place sometimes by providing some moral guidance along with supernatural beings that is soothing. But it's subjected to how each individual understand it which had and have linked to violent actions. So one must distinguish between religion and ethics to understand that only ethical actions and rules will make this world a better place.

  • Yes, religion makes people nicer.

Yes, religion makes the world a better place, because religion gives people a reason to be nice to each other. If this world is all we have, there is no reason to be nice to other people. Even things like not cheating or stealing become questionable if there is no higher authority. Religion gives people a moral compass and a reason to be kind.

  • Religion does not make the world a better place

Think for the minute. What do you think
If religion hadn't been important in ww2 lots of Jewish people wouldn't have died in the holocaust. Pakistan and India wouldn't have started a war if there was no religion. So I think religion will not make the world a better place.

  • No, for the same reasons stated by people who say "yes"

    I quote:
"If this world is all we have, there is no reason to be nice to other people."

A good heart makes the world a better place, yes.

But this is what I find disturbing. It basically admits that something as fragile as a vague authority figure is all that is between them and going evil.
One main reason for me to be nice, is that doing evil makes me unhappy. Religion has always seemed to make the mistake of teaching good behaviour through intimidation or guilt, AKA fear, because fear is so easily accessible. However, fear is also extremely unstable. Look at how we were during the dark ages where solely fear was what kept us in order.

Raising a person to become someone who does good because they want to is more challenging, but in the end far more durable and fair.

  • Of course no!

Religion would make better people. Science can make a better world. When you subscribe to a religion, you substitute nebulous group-think for focused, independent thought. Instead of learning to discern truth on your own, you’re told what to believe. This doesn’t accelerate your spiritual growth; on the contrary it puts the brakes on your continued conscious development. Religion is the off-switch of the human mind.

  • Religion causes so much conflict

I know that every religion only has a small percent of "extremist" groups but that small group of people still manage to cause a lot of death and destruction. People kill in the name of "allah" when there may not even be a god !!! So many peoples lives are put at risk over religion. I guess its fine to be religious but it should only be a personal thing...

  • I'm Leaning Towards No

Yes, Religon gives people hope and "meaning" in their lives, but all in all, no it didn't help the world. Almost every Religon (Christianity is a big one) has done something horrible "in the name of their religon." (Except Buddisim maybe..) Christens have killed Homosexuals, Jews, and other diffrent branches of Christanity all in the name of "Banishing the Devil" God isn't really merciful if he thinks that if someones bad they immedetly have to go to hell and get tortured forever for not being perfect. Musilms too. Thanks for reading.

I'm Christian and I think if everyone believed in one religion, the world would have so many less problems!
