Serena Williams deserves to e Sports Illustrated Sportsperson of the Year because of her talents. Just because a person makes particular choices does not mean that they do not deserve a title or honor for their talents and achievements in their lifetime. We must give people credit where credit is due.
In my opinion, Serena Williams is as good of a choice as any other candidate for Sports Illustrated's Sportsperson of the Year 2015. She is ranked number one in women's singles tennis and has been ranked number one in the world by the Women's Tennis Association six separate times. That is impressive enough for me.
Serena went through a lot physically and emotionally this year during her tennis seasons that she overcame and triumphed over. She won multiple major titles, one while she was battling a 101 degree fever and the flu. She played through injury and succeeded against all odds and is an overall fantastic athlete.
Serena Williams won multiple titles in 2015 and almost won the Grand Slam. She absolutely deserves to be Sports Illustrated's Sportsperson of the Year. Nobody else came close. Steph Curry and Jordan Speith deserve credit, but their years weren't as dominant as Serena Williams. Great pick for Sportsperson of the year!
