Does the Bible teach good (yes) or poor (no) ethics and morals?

  • The Bible is the definition of good morals.

The Bible is an extremely good source of good ethics and morals because it is based on sacrifice and putting yourself after others. Obviously, that is something referred to as pleasant and morally positive in today's society, and it all started thousands of years ago in this religious book that is the Bible.

  • Bible Teaches Good

I personally think that Anyone who reads the Bible throughout can see that the culture of the day had an influence on what was written. For example laws about rape, murder, slavery etc that would be considered abhorrent today were normal then. Therefore there was obviously not a divine influence in it, but a social one. Secondly there is an exorbitant amount of rape, murder and infanticide that God condones in the Old Testament.

  • The bible teaches good ethics and morals

I believe that the bible teaches good ethics and morals due to the fact that so many people agree with the bible and alot of peoples decisions in life such as getting married and having children are influenced by some type of biblical view that was instilled by the word of the bible .

  • The Bible is Perfect

The Bible teaches great morals and ethics. The Bible is the perfect word of God, so if a person follows it exactly how they should, they would lead a very satisfying and happy life. People that believe the Bible does not teach good morals are wrong. People are not perfect but the Word of God is.

  • good (yes) or poor (no)

Yes Anyone who reads the Bible throughout can see that the culture of the day had an influence on what was written. For example laws about rape, murder, slavery etc that would be considered abhorrent today were normal then. Therefore there was obviously not a divine influence in it, but a social one. Secondly there is an exorbitant amount of rape, murder and infanticide that God condones in the Old Testament.

  • Biblical morals are outdated

What the Bible says is right and wrong is a reflection of the social and moral views of the authors (people who lived in the ancient Near East thousands of years ago). Times have changed. The Bible condemns irrelevant behavior such as premarital sex, women having a voice in society, magic, homosexuality, triming beards, etc.

  • It teaches both.

The bible teaches explains how people are to love and pray for their enemies, care for the poor, and respect your neighbor. But it also commands people to sacrifice their first born kids on alters, sell your daughter into sex slavery, kill your kids if they curse you, and kill those who don't believe in the bible. It teaches poor, and good morals.

  • The bible should be considered an outdated history book.

The bible has a few good stories that do teach good morals, but many of the stories are outdated. The dangers of ignorant christians outweighs the benefits of the christians who understand that the bible is a book of metaphores. Here in Kentucky where I was raised there are many examples of ignirance in religion. Some churches turn their teachings into that if a cult, such as the outdated "law" that gay people should be stoned, as recorded in the bible. The bible is dangerous to society as a whole, but it can be a beautiful religious guide when used correctly.
