Yes, the death of Darren Seals could prompt more gun violence, since the same occurred after Michael Brown was killed by police. If an investigation finds that Darren Seals was murdered, people will become outraged and violent protests will most likely occur. If it turns out he died for some other reason, violence will be avoided.
The death of Darren Seals should not prompt additional gun violence in St. Louis. Mr. Seals was shot and then placed in a car that was set on fire. It does not appear this was a act by a police officer instigated against the popular activist. Mr. Seals death is very similar to the death Deandre Joshua, an unsolved crime from two years ago. Ms. Joshua was also shot and placed into a car before it was set on fire. In addition to Mr. Seals and Ms. Joshua's deaths there are four other outstanding murders with similar circumstances within the past two years. It is more likely that these crimes are related, but not committed by law enforcement.
Darren Seals actively spoke against gun violence. As a musician and a factory worker, he stepped up in his community to encourage his peers to protest peacefully against gun violence. The shooting and burning of Seals shocked the city and prompted any outcry of grief and injustice by his community, including followers on social media. He stood for justice and nonviolence, and his followers appear to want to honor those principles.
