Does the second amendment say that we can have ammo?

Asked by: Detinu_Death
  • If you don't have ammo, how are you supposed to use a gun?

The second amendment states: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." If it is the right of the people to bear arms then it is the right of the people to use them. How do you use guns? With ammo, meaning that the access to own ammo for the arms you buy may not be written blatantly in the second amendment but is implied if you logically analyze the second amendment.

  • Look at the Definition of "Arms"

    Arms- "weapons and ammunition; armaments."

    B O N U S D E F I N I T I O N: Armament- "military weapons and equipment."

Honestly, this should be quite obvious. The individuals who say "No" are simply grasping at nothing to find a constitutional justification against the use of guns. This so called justification could make ammunition highly difficult or impossible to attain, which would render citizens' guns useless.

  • Sayng that we have the right to guns but not ammo is to say you have the right to lightbulbs but making electricity illegal

The second ammendent says "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringe". Starting with the definition of militia which was understood by the writers of the amendment understood as a civilian army not regulated by the government but raised by the civilians in a time of need. With this understanding we understand that everyone has the right to have a weapons as is seen by the word keep. But it doesn't stop there. It also says we have the right to bear arms, in other words to use the weapon. That being said you absolutely have the right to ammo because you can't use your weapon for self-defense without it.

  • The right to keep and bear arms does not include ammo.

The right to bear arms does not mean that we are allowed to get arms of a bear. But it does say that we can have guns. The second amendment says guns are legal, but nothing is mentioned about ammo. Therefore, the second amendment does not say that we can have ammo.

  • No, it doesn't: Here's why...

The second amendment states that he who owns a gun should have a gun. I don't recall seeing that the second amendment that you could have ammo, but if you think about it, you could see that most weapons have ammo guns have bullets, bow and arrows have arrows and such.
