Does the U.S. need to put limits on the right to bear arms?

  • Guns are not the answer.

Unfortunately over the past few months we have seen far too many attacks by armed individuals, where the right to bear arms has given them the ability to end the life of another. For example, if we take recent school shootings in America, the lax gun laws there gave a mentally unstable adolescent access to a weapon of mass destruction- a weapon able to murder brutally and efficiently multiple individuals. By limiting the right to bear arms we can save lives.

  • We limitations on bear arms

The guns should in the hands of the right people. The guns should only be provided for certain people for example soldiers ,the government, FBI, the police and many more people that would be useful. We need to take precautions then the shootings at schools and many other places don't happen anymore. Less guns will mean no more death.

  • Limits on how many weapons a person can have is reasonable

Yes, if a person is legal and can buy weapons then they should be able to do so, but it should not be in access. I think that a limit of how many weapons and what kind of weapons one can buy. Many of the mass shootings involved a large amount of legally purchased weapons at numbers that were not that of a regular person.

  • We don't need to bear arms.

We don't need to bear arms because we don't need to. First of all, the automatic weapons that people have are not useful. We don't need to fire a million bullets in a year. Then people all over the world will die. We don't need lots of people dying from guns every year.

  • We do not need the right to bear every arms.

Everyone should have the right to defend themselves and their homes. However, they do not need the right to have assault rifles or destructive weapons to do that. We should not have military grade weapons as options to defend themselves. Most injuries by guns in the home come from the owner of the gun, why do you need a gun used to fight against armies and tanks to defend yourself from an intruder.

  • Yes, the right to bear arms needs to be limited.

Restricting who can own weapons and what type can be owned has become a public safety issue. No one needs an assault weapon. Those types of weapons are used to hunt and kill people, not deer, and they should be banned, full stop. There should also be stricter licensing requirements put in place.

  • Unfortunately

As much as I hate limiting people's freedoms, this is a case that the overwhelming majority that has not and was not going to do anything wrong has to suffer because a much smaller group ruined it for them. There are some legal arms that nobody needs to have and states that getting them is way too easy. Do not outright take away a citizens right to own a gun, but make it much harder and with a more limited selection.

  • Sadly people don't understand what banning/limiting gun's will do

And if you do want that ban/limit, then you should go live in a communist country like North Korea where everything is limited and everybody gets the same thing. If one thing is limited, so will others like freedom of speech, or freedom of religion. Troops are dying for your freedom to speak and free religion

  • The second amendment was put there for a reason.

The second amendment was put there for a reason, and not for hunting and fishing. Its there to protect the citizens from a corrupt and oppressive government.

Philippines former dictator Ferdinand Marcos, and all other dictators, ... Gun control clearly means registration prior to gun confiscation. Those who were old enough to recall that the very first order of Dictator Ferdinand Marcos in September 1972 when MARTIAL LAW was declared (General Order No.1) was to order the surrender and confiscation of all firearms in civilian hands. And that is exactly what the military and PC (Philippine constabulary) did! All licensed firearms were ordered surrender their firearms at the nearest police camp and/or the police went from house-to-house asking for your licensed guns as per their records and demanding that they be surrendered - or else! Stiff penalties of 20 years imprisonment were imposed for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

This country (usa) was founded from fighting an oppressive government. The founding fathers put these laws in the constitution to protect its citizens from the same fate.

  • No, just read the last phrase of the 2nd amendment.

The last phrase says, regarding the right to keep and bear arms, SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED! Anytime you make any laws or any restrictions on that right you are violating the Constitution. If you truly think limits should be put in place, you should do it by due process. That process is amending the Constitution.

  • No, the right to bear arms should not be limited.

The U.S. constitution allows all citizens the right to bear arms. Other countries, for example Switzerland, actually issue guns to their citizens. Statistically, Switzerland has less murders and violent crimes per person involving guns than the United States. With that said one could logically deduce that gun control is not the true concern. Limiting the right to bear arms is an unnecessary tool being looked at to solve a deeper problem with in the United States. Limiting the ability for a decent man to bear arms is more detrimental to society than hindering the ability of a criminal to find a way to find a gun. The criminal will always find a way to get a gun or carry out the malicious act they intend to commit.
