Donald Trump said he would institute a registry for Muslims in America. Good idea (yes) or bad idea (no)?

  • Well, welcome to Neo-Nazi America folks!

Should we make a registry for Christians? God killed people, does that mean that all the Christians will too? This is the exact shit that the fucking Nazis did! I'm not sure what lack of brain function would make anybody think that this is a good idea. Yeah, let's register an entire religion because that will definitely stop them from doing bad stuff. It's this kind of fear mongering that lead to the Nazis coming in power, and if you really look at it, Trumps campaign is similar to how Hitler came into power. Anyway, it's a bad and racist solution to a problem that doesn't exist in every Muslum in the US

  • Is a Good Idea.

USA is a country famous for freedom and human rights and has been traditionally been a torch bearer for humanity. But the world is a complex place to live in with multiple conflicting dogma being followed by various people. USA needs to defend itself from brutal terror attacks and any idea which helps in this regard can be considered as a good idea so long as it does not infringe on the basic human rights of any person.

  • Yes we should

Mohamed was a murderer folks, anyone who accredits themselves to that guy should expect no less than suspicion, It would be like me joining a neo-nazi group and expecting people to not think I am racist, the truth is is that Islam is a sick, sexist, racist, voilent religion, and no muslim with a brain

Fool us twice. Better safe than sorry.

  • It's not about religion

It's not about religion, people seem to be making it into that. It's about national security. The problem is, nobody should single out Muslims as a religion of hatred or terrorism...But the fact is there is over 6 million active terrorists associated with this faith. The faith itself has been distorted time and time again and its impossible to keep tract of who's peaceful, and who's ready to be radicalized. The teachings of Mohammed often contradict the Qu'ran itself. And for anyone who thinks Muslims worship/follow Mohammed you're wrong. Muslims follow Allah, the one God. Not Mohammed. But, simply, Muslims aren't being given a good wrap...And in time, unless these Radical Islamic groups quit...All Muslims will be singled out...And pushed away. I hope for the better. Many Muslims are peaceful loving people.

  • More harm than good

Forcing Muslims to register with the federal government is preposterous and unconstitutional. We cannot protect our country by undermining the Constitution and civil liberties. Mandatory identification is a slippery slope; it would open the floodgates to more acts of discrimination and eventually it will lead to being rounded up and imprisoned.

  • What are we, Nazis?

Holy shit I'm so done. People are actually considering. Legit, ironically considering this. On top of that, the one asshole who tried to compare what their plan was to Japanese internment camps. Are you even human at this point? All these islamophobic idiots calling Muslims savages or terrorists. It's ironic isn't it? As it is they who are the ones committing unthinkable acts of savagery and terrorism. Knock it off, you fucking morons.

  • No No No

Hmmm, this sounds vaguely similar to the actions taken by a certain German extremist in the 1940s....

This is literally going to lead to a second Holocaust. Trump is out of his mind and anyone who supports this is delusional. Trump is a disaster. If he wins, you can expect a 3rd world war.

  • The Jewish comparison is too tempting

Having Muslims register a special I.D. Would be wrong, but further - it would be impossible to pass a law like that. The U.S. gov't is t 'make no law respecting an establishment of religion...' nor can it pass a law 'prohibiting the free exercise thereof'. A law like that would require a wizard lawyer - and even then it would probably be struck down in court. The government has zero right to make laws about religion. Further, I don't think it would be effective. It would alienate and polarize a section of the population, and that never encourages growth in any way. There IS a significant problem in modern Islam, but it's danger to the West is actually fairly slim, and even if it wasn't, this would be a terrible way to fight it.

  • Registry = license to practice bigotry

Doesn't matter who or what is being registered. Once you float the idea that it is ok to register a person - for whatever reason - then you create a target list that legitimizes prejudice by reducing a human being into a label - be it a Jew or a Sex Offender or a Gun Owner or a Muslim - that justifies dehumanization and vilification. A registry is just another word for a target list of people that it is ok to hate, revile and persecute. Haven't we had our fill of this yet?

  • It is discrimination.

Firstly, let me get one thing right. Muslims does NOT refer to people from the Middle East. Nor do they refer to refugees. Muslims are followers of Islam. There are currently 12 million Muslims in the US and more than 8 million of them are either African American or White. Anyone can become a Muslim one day, and not be one the day after. Anyone could become a Muslim and not tell the government. This would make the register useless. After all. Why would terrorists tell the government that they are Muslims when they know they will be monitored by a racist man?

It is already clear that most terrorists are Muslim-radicalized natives, as seen in the Paris attacks. Islam that the IS is teaching is not the real Islam. Islam does not teach you to behead people, blow them up with C4s and run them over with tanks. 98% of Muslims live in peace. After all only 2% of terrorism since the 9/11 has been committed by people who originate from Muslim countries such as Syria Iraq and Afghanistan. Therefore, keeping a registry for JUST Muslims is very racist of Mr Donald Trump. If he becomes president, it will be a bad influence on America as a nation.

  • This idea makes me think of the start of the holocaust.

If you would remember, Hitler began with small things such as this, keeping it small as to ensure the people would agree with him and vote for the Nazi party. With that, he took control of the people by redirecting their fear of being overtaken and their rage at the Powers that made the Treaty of Versailles. The poor, innocent people he redirected the rage towards were the Jews, and if we allow Trump to act like this and if we are so blind as that we cannot see through our rage and fear, we will repeat history, only this time, we will be the murderers.

  • Is this the Holocaust???

Poor Trump. Poor, stupid, Trump. Of COURSE this is a bad idea. Just because a few idiot terrorists in the Middle East are using Islam as an excuse for their actions, doesn't mean that all Muslims have to be monitored. That's the same as saying that all Christians think that same-sex marriage is bad. If fact, the vast majority of Christians support same-sex marriage. Not to mention the the right of religious freedom is being violated by forcing people of a specific religion to register. What are they going to do if a Muslim doesn't register? Throw them in jail? While this is not racism in itself, technically, it's only a few steps from it. Finally, I wish to point out this is exactly what Hitler did... With Jews. Right before the Holocaust.

  • Discriminatory and it wouldn't solve anything.

In addition to the fact that the idea is so completely discriminatory (can you imagine if a politician suggested a registry for black people?!?), I also fail to understand how it's meant to make the USA safer. In fact, I believe the idea would just fuel further extremism and in the long term make America and the world worse off.
