Yes, the suppression of tariffs is beneficial for the EU on agricultural products, because it will decrease costs. Agriculture products are already very expensive, and reducing tariffs will make food more available to people, many of whom are already struggling as it is. Suppressing tariffs will make more food available at more reasonable prices, and will stimulate the economy.
A tariff is a tax and although it seems like suppressing a tax would help matters, it would take money away from projects that are vital for citizens. This could take money away from education programs, road and bridge repairs and who knows what else. Tariffs are a necessary evil.
