Fat tax: Could tax-revenue from a "fat tax" be used for positive purposes?

  • Use it for whatever

No matter what the tax is it could be used for a positive purpose. It all depends on what the voters vote the money for or what the politicians decide. All you need is some influence and you could make the fat tax for whatever purpose is desired. It is all about politics.

  • Fat taxes are bad.

Fat taxes are bad. Fat taxes are bad. Fat taxes are bad. Fat taxes are bad. Fat taxes are bad. Fat taxes are bad. Fat taxes are bad. Fat taxes are bad. Fat taxes are bad. Fat taxes are bad. Fat taxes are bad. Fat taxes are bad. Fat taxes are bad. Fat taxes are bad. Fat taxes are bad.

  • No, a fat tax would burden people needlessly and tax revenue could possibly be misused anyway.

Many governments misuse tax revenue, spending it on pay and vacation for politicians, bloated programs or senseless wars. A new tax is not a guarantee that money would be used wisely. In addition, a fat tax would likely to increase discrimination and prejudice against bigger people, which is already a problem. Contrary to popular belief many "overweight" people are actually poor people who cannot easily afford healthier foods, so a fat tax would only make them more poor.
