FIFA President and UEFA Boss Suspended: Should Sepp Blatter and Michel Platini have received a bigger punishment than an eight-year suspension from all football-related activities following the ethics investigation?
  • A stronger punishment is necessary

FIFA president Sepp Blatter should have received a lifetime ban for corrupting the integrity of a very influencial governing body for soccer. The power of this organization cannot be corruped in any small way as to keep the integrity of every single match played under its watch. With even the littlest bit of doubt, a game is worthless.

  • Should be banned for life.

The degree of corruption and malfeasance caused by Mr. Blatter and Mr. Platini should warrant a lifetime ban from football (soccer) activities. The 8-year suspension seems like a slap on the wrist considering that Blatter's case could land a lifetime sentence if convicted criminally. A lifetime ban would also do more to restore the public's faith in the leadership of the sport.

  • Yes, Sepp Blatter and Michel Platini should have received a bigger punishment for their ethical shortfalls.

Sepp Blatter and Michel Platini received a very lenient punishment for their role in the FIFA scandal. This suspension sets a low precedence for crimes and corruption for sports executives and will not deter people from committing these acts in the future. They should be suspended from all football-related activities for life. A lifetime ban would send a more serious message regarding corruption within the FIFA organization.

  • I think 8 years is fair

There's no doubt what Sepp Blatter and Michel Platini did was wrong. I think 8 years is the right punishment. They deserve to learn from their mistakes. If you can't learn after 8 years, you probably will never learn. I don't think they need longer than 8 years to realize what they did was wrong.
